Pan Singh Tomar, the story of an athlete turned army man turned dacoit tells us the sad condition of sports and sportsperson's in India. A person who has bought honors for the country ultimately dies the death ofa fugitive. The cinematography and direction is good.Performance wise this film belongs to Irfan Khan and Irfan Khan. Mahi Gill too did justice to her role. Others were also good.
In a Third World Country of India where it is an irony that the end of a international level athelet in such a horrendous manner shows how the poor, uneducated yet talented people are exploited by the society and the system. When Pan Singh fails to gain protection from the police he takes the matter in his hand and takes up arms. Even today the scenario is not much changed. Apart from cricket there are only few games which get the privilege of sponsorship and money.
A athlete who comes from a humble background has to toil hard yet he seldom gets his due. The rustic village politics give primacy to nepotism which Pan Singh is unable to adjust. In short this is a watchable film though the plot might have been more compact.
