PVR cinema is well-reputed Movie Screening theater throughout India which has more than 400 hundred screens wide spread around India. PVR saket, formally as Anupam Cinema is one of the early project which PVR(Priya Village RoadShow) started in 2000's. PVR cinema is famous for its stardom and people prefer to visit it. When I was in Mumbai, I had watch fewer movies in PVR mainly because of its ticket price, but in New Delhi, there are not so many options in Southern part of Delhi. So lately, I have visited PVR Saket many times to watch all kind of movies including 3-D movies. The detail experience is penned below.
On the way to PVR
PVR Saket is in 5 minute walking distance from either of Saket Metro station or Malviya Nagar Metro Station in South Delhi. It has 4 screens including 2 small screen of 150 seats each and 2 other are big screen. The inside surrounding of theater is very good and well decorated. Seats are red in Color and looks attractive but there are hardly other good things that can make you notice more about it.
Ticket Price
Ever since I was in Mumbai, I avoided PVR for its expensive ticket. In overall, Mumbai theaters/multiplex are cheaper than New Delhi. In those days when I was in Mumbai, PVR morning show in weekdays were Rs 70. But here price is much higher. PVR Saket is one of the cheapest theater of PVR chain in Delhi, still it is priced much higher. Depending upon the movies, ticket price are fixed and for first show of Friday, price starts from 150(I even had to pay Rs 250 for Salman Khan Jai Ho first day first show of 9 am). For afternoon and evening show, ticket are priced starting at Rs. 250. Watching first day/weekend show in PVR Saket is expensive. But let me tell you, there are many other PVR which are expensive than this. PVR Saket is cheaper among PVR Delhi chain but still expensive than many of other theaters including PVR Gurgaon .
For those who prefer to watch movies on low cost, Thursday is best day for them to visit PVR. Their Thursday rate is Rs 75 for normal movies and Rs 100 for 3-D movies throughout the day. Other day, you need to expense higher.
Food and Catering in PVR
When it comes to Cinema, it might be hard for many people to avoid Popcorn and snacks during movie. If this is the truth, then PVR is going to be costlier for you again. I myself have never bought inside the theater because their rate are too high. Higher than any other theater. I wonder why do they keep so high amount for simple pop corn. These prices of food are expensive throughout PVR chain.
Comfort Level
I personally didn't find PVR Saket Seats as comfortable as other PVR chain itself. Though place is kept clean and attractive, seats reclining are not to the expected level. Your time may pass unnoticed if movie is good, but if your choice of movie is boring and if you got in small screen, you are going to have difficult time in aspect of seat. PVR in MG Road Gurgaon has better seats and better comfort.
PVR Saket gives average sound and picture quality during screening of movie. Despite being theater of late 20th century, watching movie here is fun and interesting. Multiplex has changed the way of watching movies. But much better experience can be taken on other theaters
3D Experience
I had not so good experience while watching 3-D movies. It is not a suitable place if you want to watch 3D movies. Their 3-D glasses are not well maintained while some of them are not working. You may need to change your non-working 3-D glass. I had to change it while watching movie Gravity. Since then I have not watched any 3-D movies here. Neither it has good 3-D quality.
Interrupting and Irritating Advertisements
This is the one that will irritate you most when you go to watch movies in PVR. Lately, they have been showing many commercial advertisements that really bores your starting time. They keep showing same advertisements twice and thrice prolonging the start of movie by almost 15 minutes. They repeat the same commercial advertisements even during break time. Adding the feature promo for more ten minutes, movie starts 25-30 minutes late than what the time shows. This is the thing that I am really irritated of PVR Saket during my last few visit.
My Conclusion
Watching the non 3-D movie in PVR Saket is a good entertainment but considering other factors and looking at other options available, it is advisable not to visit PVR Saket. Let me give you few more tips if you happened to visit this place when less option available.
1) Don't go for 3-D movies.
2) You can afford to enter the hall 20-25 minutes. You will be saved by commercial advertisments.
As for me, No any more first day show in PVR. My wallet can't afford them now.:)
