I first bought a PC Gamer magazine off a newstand about 5 years ago and I've been a subscriber ever since.
Before I started reading PC Gamer I subscribed to PC Game World and that magazine is nothing compared to PC Gamer. PC Gamer has much more content and is structured better so you can easily find the information you need. The reviews are very useful and I feel that they rate games very accurately. Every game gets a fair review and rating by an unbiased reviewer. Most of the people on the PC Gamer staff have some kind of experience that makes them knowledgable about a particular subject. For example one writer is a former race car driver so he reviews racing games and tells the readers how realistic they are and other information about the game.
A single issue costs US $7.99 and a one year subscription is US $29.95. For that price you get the magazine and disc full of game demos. The magazine contains game previews, reviews, strategy guides, and walk-throughs. It also reports gaming industry news and events.
All of the articles in the magazines are also very humorous. You should read all the reviews, even if you're not interested in a certain game because the review is guaranteed to be funny anyway.
Overall, I would say that PC Gamer is the best computer gaming magazine on the planet. There is nothing I don't like about it.
