I don't wear suits regularly. But, I do know quite a bit about them.

[For those of you, who don’t have time, skip to the DISASTER part and the ATTACHED PIC]

How it started:

I wanted to get a bespoke suit for my marriage reception. I wanted to compromise on neither the quality nor the tailoring. I searched online and also visited few famous tailors in Bangalore including Khanate(not that great), Syed Bawkher(Bangalore one is a rip-off of the original one in Chennai) and well, the Zegna shop(without a doubt the best, but way out of my budget) and P N Rao of course. P N Rao seemed to offer a good balance among the variety of fabric, the promise of quality stitching and the cost.

The chief tailor, a middle aged man named Deepak, is a professional man and knows a thing or two about the fabric, stitch, style etc. But the problem is he is not the one who makes the suit. So, anyway, when I went to the shop, he showed me a range of fabric and helped me select too. I chose this Italian fabric(I forgot the brand name – it was a three worded name), 100% wool, 130/14 which was expensive(at least for me) at about Rs.23000, add to that the cost of tailoring and the shirt and the suit was going to cost me about Rs.28000.

==Ordering:

==After I chose the fabric, I started giving him instructions in detail about the notch lapel, button style, the fit, lapel width, 2-vents, 3 pockets, hand stitch, the fake buttonhole on the lapel etc. I was VERY clear and serious about all this. Not only was I paying 28k but also it was for my marriage day. They just took the measurements and noted down NOTHING ELSE! I inquired, and they said it’s okay, we won’t forget.

I repeated all instructions again during the trials and again, they didn’t take down notes.

=
=Note that I had shown them some of the readymade suits to imitate.

*==DISASTER:

==They kept on postponing the delivery date and finally ‘delivered’ the suit 3 hours before I was to take my flight home. Only one problem: they had * up, very badly. My jaw almost dropped on the floor when I looked at the suit. But the master tailor was like “what’s the problem”?

I was infuriated; they had completely messed up the lapels. As I had severe shortage of time, I took a written guarantee from them to fix this when I come back after my wedding, by changing the whole lapel part without any extra cost. After a lot of arguments, the manager Ismail agreed. The note is attached here.

You’d think that they can’t ** up twice. You’re wrong! They screwed up the already screwed up suit.

PLEASE, HAVE A LOOK AT THE ATTACHED PIC and judge for yourself. By the way, this is not just for the suit, the same happened with the shirt also!

They not only ruined my suit, but also my marriage day! Think twice before you even consider P N Rao for your sartorial needs.=

I have asked for the full **refund. The owner is going to call me tomorrow for this. If he doesn’t refund my money, I am going to the consumer court.
