I have always heard how good P N Rao Tailors are. Lots of advertisements, lots of hoardings... lots of rubbish!!!! I had been to their Jayanagar Branch with my family on 7nov 09. Ushered to first floor. Asked a sales guy for formal trouser material and was vaguely told to wait before he left. We were kept waiting there for 20mins.
There was only one other lady customer and two sales personnel. The other sales guys there refused to even acknowledge our presence. Finally on asking the other so called sales guy twice for the formal trouser material section we were very reluctantly told it was the 2nd floor. We went there and Voila... I was surprised to see the first sales specialist who had told us to wait on the first floor in that very section. I asked why he hadn’t answered our query and his reply was that he already had a customer.
Cool guy eh? And to add to this waste of time, another sales guy did us the favour of attending to us. He very kindly showed us two materials, exactly two rolls of fabric. When we inquired about a thicker material he looked very offended and rudely stated that that was exactly what he had shown us. I was speechless. Maybe they only stitch for weddings (holy purposes) so we were not welcome. It would have made my life easier if that was stated in the beginning.
Even a one off case like this should be unacceptable. If PN Rao has even survived as a tailor, they were either good once upon a time or we have no idea about customer service expectations. I think we should expect better customer service at least from so called premium places or outcast these places. I am always ready to pay good price for good service or take my business to someone else. That is the only way we can hope the standards will improve. Our service industry is quite sad with hardly anyone interested in doing their well. The management has an extremely callous attitude. Most sales guys, irrespective of the field, are the pits with a little or no training.
