*Pain in tooth:
*1) Pain/ sensitivity due to hot/cold - can be due to decay/ toothbrush abrasion/ erosion/ attrition due to mastication.
Treatment - Suitable filling of that tooth/teeth i.e tooth-colored filling in the front tooth for esthetics(like composite/porcelien) & strong filling in the back teeth which help in chewing(like hybrid composite, silver filling). For symptomatic relief medicated toothpastes can be used(like sensodent/ sensofoam/ nitra).
2) Pain during mastication/ long duration - can be due to deep infection of teeth or its supporting tissues i.e gums & underlying jaw bone.
Treatment - Removal of the underlying cause by appropriate therapy(done by the dental surgeon) and prescription of medicines.
*Shaking/ loose tooth:
*1} Slightly shaking - its due to deposits around your teeth which is the home for germs to grow.
Treatment - can be restored back to healthy position by the dental surgeon after clinical & radiographic examination.
2) Excessive shaking - Its due to complete loss of support to the tooth by gums & jaw bone.
Treatment - No treatment except extraction(removal) of the tooth by the dental surgeon.
*Broken/ chipped tooth:
*1) slightly broken with less or no sensitivity - mostly seen in front teeth due to fall/ accident.
Treatment - Can be restored by to same shape, size & color using composite filling/ laminate technique/ crown(cap).
2) Broken 1/4th or more with yellow/ brown discoloration - In this case the sensory organ of tooth(Pulp) is dead.
Treatment - Root canal treatment followed by fabrication of suitable crown.
Extra or supernumerary tooth:
If its causing problem of esthetics and funtion than only it requres attention.
Treatment - Extration by the dental surgeon(removal).
Discolored teeth:
1) Stains on the external surface of teeth.
Treatment - can be removed by scaling technique.
2) Stains on the internal surface teeth.
Treatment - can be treated by bleaching/ laminates etc.
Deposits/ tarter/ calcilus/ plaque:
Its due to improper brushing technique.
Treatment - scaling and polishing by the dental surgeon.
Irregular/ malalligned teeth:
It can be genetic or due to oral habits and many more medical problems.
Treatment - Orthodontic reallignment of the teeth followed by retention period(to keep the teeth in same position after treatment).
*Missing teeth:
*Its seen in all age groups but mostly in elderly.
Treatment - Fixed dentures/ removable dentues/ implants.
*Bleeding/ swelling of gums:
*It can be due to any oral disease or systemic disease. Mostly due to deposits in the gums.
Treatment - Complete oral prophylaxis, debridement of exposed roots
*White spots on the teeth:
*Its due to excess flouride in your drinking water.
Treatment - Bleaching of the teeth.
