Sorry friends; I have to write under?Hair maintenance?; because there is no place for?HAIR LOSS?.


Alopecia(this term has become very common nowadays because of lot of awareness about hair care) is used to describe?hair loss from scalp?; but this term also can be used to describe hair loss in other parts of body.


Causes=


1) Most common cause of alopecia is?male pattern baldness(Androgen tic).?


2) Drug induced= certain medicines used in Cancer. Exposure to chemicals( occupational)


3) Burns; wounds marks on skin can damage hair follicles permanently and that area of skin can no longer produce hair.


4) Diseases like Typhoid; Malaria; etc.; Tuberculosis and Cancer. Local infections like Dandruff; Lice infestation. Severe Fungal infections; Herpes.


5) Thyroid= Hypothyroidism with too much weight gain. Many obese people complain of losing hair.


6) Idiopathic= Most of time it is difficult to know exact cause. Here typical round shaped areas of hair loss are seen on scalp.

Most of the time you find?hair loss? is not local problem; is one of the symptoms of underlying diseases.


Then how to treat hair loss?


Consult your family doctor who knows your full history of previous illness.


Diet plays very important role in this. You must have a good diet with 30% Protein; 10% Fat and 60% Carbohydrate. Diet should be balanced in such a way that you get all minerals(Like Magnesium; Zinc; Calcium) and Vitamins.


Diets written in magazines; Newspaper; or given by any celebrity should never be followed. There are some?No-Carb.? diet or?High Protein? Diet. They are incomplete. They can cause?severe hair loss?! Follow Registered Dietitian or Doctors? advice. In short you take more vegetables like Spinach; Broccoli; Tomato; Cauliflower; and fruits like Sweet-lime; Orange; Banana; Pear and Apple. Drink 1 to 1.5 liters of water.


Vitamin supplements **can be used like any multivitamins with Zinc; and Calcium. Anti-oxidants can play a better role. Take them regularly. Get it prescribed by physician.


Applications **on hair are also important if your hair are very dry or you suffer from any infection; most common among them?Dandruff?.


Use of anti-dandruff shampoo like?SCALPE? lotion. In dry hair condition best is?COCONUT OIL? or alternatively mix coconut; almond and castor oil. It is very good combination; works wonder!


?Mintop? lotion has proved to be very effective but one has to use for more than 6 months! It has side-effects but very slight like Hypotension. Consult?Dermatologist? please.
