It was almost one and half year back when I stumbled upon an Outlook sales representative . He had great offers for two years subscription. A good looking sports track suit from Nike and a tourist guide book on hill stations. I deed some calculations and discovered the magazine came almost free to me for 2 years! I took no further time in signing-up for subscription.

Since then I have been getting this weekly magazine on a regular basis. For last few months, a life style magazine also comes with Outlook absolutely free. It all seems a cool deal!

Earlier I was an irregular customer of India Today and Readers Digest. Both of them are good magazine, however I subscribed for Outlook, obviously due to the lucrative offer I just mentioned.

Outlook covers almost all the areas we generally require to be aware of like politics, world affairs, sports, business and entrainment etc. The print and paper quality is good and punctuality in delivery of magazines is also good.

However the major concern is the quality of material Outlook prints. I would say it is horrible. On all the aspect of coverage, one biased outlook is obvious. In fact after reading the magazine in the initial 2-3 months I had got alarmed. I discussed with my friends and they laughed at me. They informed me that the Outlook team is a known communist’s pro team. It was disgusting to me. Not only because I disliked the communist, but because I never expected a front line media to be so biased!

Off late these have started praising Sonia and her team. I am confused, up to what extent an independent media can fall!

I will give you some examples:

  1. Nandigram coverage: Outlook prominently brought out Praksh Karat’s article which bailed out the communist workers and police. Criminals were the villagers of Nandigram!

  2. Reservation issue: Outlook has printed numerous articles justifying reservations, lashing upper caste lobby for opposing it etc. Not a single article justifying the demands of anti reservation group. Why?

3.Afzal’s issue: An article by the so called social worker, human write activist and a writer of craps Arundhati Roy. This article has all the nefarious designs to justify bailing out of Afzal.

  1. Gujarat coverage: We have heard that these days Gugarat has progressed like any thing, has cleared so many SEZs smoothly, has attracted so much of FDI etc. However Outlook still is stuck up on the old issues like Gujarat riots, fake encounters etc. It seems almost blind to the positive sides of Gujarat. Strange!

Outlook seems ill bent upon maligning BJP and allies. I am not a great fan of BJP but it may be better than many other parties. Why a news magazine which is supposed to have an independent outlook, should get so much biased coverage all the times. What does the stupid team thinks. What ever they print does have a lasting impact! It is true it never happens. These days people are not gullible readers and they can identify the people and their parties solely through their actions. In such an environment, the material quality of outlook team fails to generate peoples faith. The outlook team is not a sensible team but a biased bunch of corrupt journalists. Journalism with nose at the feet of politicians.

Outlook will have to think that only through offers they can’s sale their magazine. They will have to improve on credibility front.
