Did you know that there are people who say they can meet dead people & talk to them? There is a belief of reincarnation in many religions. At least half of us are curious to know that we were in our past life. Few curious cats still need to know what we will be in the future life. Forget about past life and future life. We all are eager to know what we will become tomorrow. Palmist, numerologists, astrologists…all made us believe that we can know our past through them. Modern science with the quantum theory established in principle that there is no time or space and we can go back to time and space.

From childhood I have been very eager to know about the forces surrounding me. Once in our college a stage show of Hypnotism was organized and I was amazed by the show. No need to tell that before completing one month from it I did my first Hypnotism to a program mate when I was attending a live in camp. I was so happy to know that the powers which until then I believed only belongs to rare few is being part of me too like everybody else can have. I have to assert here that I didn't practice it before and tried my hands only once twice more.

I too have small experiences of telephathy. As I mentioned in my review on friendship, I hold a small solid group of friends from whom I have received many telepathic like messages or informations in several occasions. I also observed that when I think on something or somebody the person is informed in some other way than my talking or explaining. i.e. my thoughts are passing to the other people without the medium of communication. I didn't take these matters seriously, but several instances make one to think about its existence, in this case – Telepathy. I am not saying I have telepathy power, but telepathic experiences…or intuitions….

I learned Graphology for some time and after proving that I can win at it, dropped it to press my mainstream objectives. So, basically I have a curious eye to these kinds of formulas for which you blame it on my sun sign!

It was Daya, who suggested the inspirational book "Emporers of Mind". I went to Magrudy's in Burjuman and they told me that it is not available. After a brief search, I entered the section Psych…Though it was not the section of my greatest interest. My hands rested on one book 'THE OTHER SIDE AND BACK". The author Sylvia Browne is smiling with her hypnotic face. It's golden with a fading violet cover and the references at the back compelled me to buy the book. I did checked few of the content…it looked very nice. So I am left with no option but to buy the book.

The introduction of the book made my expectation grow further since it was done by a famous researcher (Melvyn M Morse MD) who is doing his study on feedbacks from people who faced near death situations. When he explained the Local reality and non local reality, not only that I did manage to understand those but was eager to listen from a person who has gone to the non local reality and comes back.

As soon as I read the introduction by the author ….and to the first chapter …..to the 2nd chapter…all my expectations went down to valley of local reality from the mountains of non-local reality. I adjust myself to the reality that …i.e. the so called non-local reality is not so local.

The author Sylvia Browne is very famous and known as a psychic. The book was No. 1 New York Times Best seller. She is a certified Hypnotist. American channels shown her live programs and she got many believers. I however found the work and the way it was treated as simply ridiculous.

If she has been right in her approach or in words I would have bought her idea, but the so called world famous Psychic made a mockery of half cooked information to convince people who cannot stand their emotions or not reached a level to understand the stage they are invited to.

The book however made me laugh all out…I don't know when I laughed that much with each sentence. No. Comic books didn't turn me on that much like intellectual stupidity did. I only thought that if I have read a book on hypnotism from Sylvia it would have been much of the use to me. Mind you, she uses higher principles of hypnotism to push you up out of the world! That doesn't mean that you entered the non-local reality!

Why I differ with her? Sylvia Browne failed first in her believes where she was taken too much of Christian believes without understanding Christ. She describe the other side people speak Aramaic of ancient Syria, the language Christ used to speak. At the same time she has taken inspiration from Hindu religion on meditation (she had an institute called Nirvana earlier) and use modern day Quantum Physics principles to by few. So far fine, but the author made a heaven of people than their spirits. She imagined god and angels humanly in nature where she said there are grades for angels and there are scientists and engineers on the other side etc.

There are many funny references in the book. On the other side everybody is having 30 years of age, but they can select their height, weight, colour etc!!! She proclaims that when she is talking the audience can see the tall angel behind her and many have asked who that lady was!!!

Sylvia Browne heavily banked on her talent in hypnotism and vague ideas from various religion. She asked the client to believe what they see in the hypnotic state. The author wants us to accept whatever is coming to your mind is correct. If one meet a person in the hypno state, ask what year..say 1500AD… if that person say he/she is your great great great great grandfather/mother, accept it! If the client asks what if it is not true, she bounce back "what if it is"? Clever…! Thankfully I didn't went mad reading all those, but I laughed a lot. Out of Sylvia's great predictions, just note few funniest ones! "Peace in Middle East will prevail by 2050!" (I believe she must be the most optimistic person in America to predict this) "Atlantis will begin to re-appear in the year 2003 & will be fully visible by 2026", "2050 will be the beginning of the year of Messiah" "Entire human cells will not be cloned, but separate body parts will be cloned to use in operations"

My only worry is that I have paid the hard earned money to read this book. I deserve it…let me count how many hairs left in my head. All to be given to the author when I reach in the non-local reality! Cry….

Not recommended the book or the author as a Psychic, but only can accept as a hypnotist!!!
