U know when you need a scientific calculator ...u guessed it right when you get into an engineering college most probably CALCULATOR FX 100 series are a must there ..then the question is what to buy ..CASIO or ORPAT one is three times expensive than their ORPAT counter part well I have used both and interestingly ORPAT was very easy to operate and Cheap (at 1996 I bought it at Rs.325 when I got through JEE and was admitted to IIT Kanpur for B.Tech now its even more cheap Rs.225 and may be there some improvements). But I remember it (ORPAT fx 100 D did not lasted with me for more than six to eight months its Cover was broken or infact came out from its assembly within 4-5 days and I used to get scolded when ever my DAD saw the condition of my calculator ..i was blamed for careless-ness but no I was not really that care less the fact was the design of this Calculator was really cheap.And on technical point of view it has only one memory as compared to 10 of CASIO fx100s and the Complex Numbers mode feature really sucks you can not Divide two Complex numbers by ORPAT fx100d while you can multiply two complex numbers is not that a bug in the embedded software in the Chip of ORPAT Fx 100D, Besides that there are some good parts also about ORPAT fx 100 d that it is most easy to use user friedly you can easily locate the functions on KeyPad clean simple key pad while in CASIO fx100s you will make a mess of things searching for the particular function. Hence I would recommend ORPAT fx100d for beginners who are a bit more carefull about handling their tools.If we look at the PRICE tag then sure we can ignore the some functional disabilities of ORPAT fx 100 d as usually Indians are habitual of Compromising for Quality for the cause of economy.
SO IN SUMMARY I WOULD SAY ...
if You are a serious users go for something more that just ORPAT fx 100 d ...may be CASIO series
If you are beginner ..and plan to do stuff not involving very Complex Calculations ORPAT is Just fine and really Cheap ...but make sure you handle it carefully.
Decide by the criteria
COST--> Do buy ORPAT
QUALITY and Functionality---->Don't buy ORPAT fx 100-d
For those who are going for engineering education I would say that they will be able to do most of the things by ORPAT but surely at some point of time they will realise that this does not have that functions like Statistical and Permutations and Combinations while its has a factorial function for your rescue.
so make a wise choice depending upon your requirement ...
