On public demand at Orkut, I had to comply and return to MS to write a review on the second most talked about thing right now…Orkut! ....First being Rakhi Sawant and Mika ;-) I thought you could have guessed that...ignorant fools you are if you haven’t!
Yup! So what was I talking about...Orkut.com...Orkut is a community website which is very similar to Hi5 but is being much more received. It is easier to navigate, simpler to understand and is entertaining too! To join orkut, like other community websites, you need to have an invite...a gmail account is other option...Once you have joined, keep searching for friends and adding them, scrapping them and having fun!
In case you are wondering orkut is just like any other site, I am afraid your thinking is as bad as mine...I thought the same but then I figured out that orkut can be a lot more than the normal website...so for the benefit of the mankind or should I say the MSian-kind, I am listing the main reasons why orkut is different...!
1. It helped me find people who I knew existed somewhere but never had any idea on how to discover them. My long lost school mates, my college gang; you name them and they are there! Finding school friends, meeting them online, chatting with them and finally meeting them in person is one good experience...I am sure most of us would be only too happy to remember the good old school buddies, seniors or your funny juniors!
Meeting with the whole gang of MSians who are missing in action here...they are there, enjoying, writing and talking to other MSians without any barriers, confusions and technical hitches...infact I found the who's who there...Ambuj, Anuj, Paulose ,Ketul, Sachien, Itika and now Zulu too...so the fun has now shifted...talking to MSians through a different website is fun...you know them but you still don’t know them...reading their profile, reaching out to their friends etc can turn out to be an exciting experience...For me, finding people who I knew from MS was a good experience...! So if you are at MS and on my trusted list, join in to orkut too!
Joining orkut is the next best thing in town...whichever town you are in! So if you are to survive in the cyber world...join it soon! The hip-happening are joining it, the good old sweet guys are joining it (!) and the worst of the lot are there as well...so what are you waiting for?
Orkut provides you access to friends, friend’s friends and more friends...view their profile, like them...add them...if they do not accept it, and try the next one! Knowing friends is good, knowing their friends is even better...try it yourself!
Scrap your friends!...ok if you are new to orkut world, scrapping means writing in other's online diary...do that and if you get a scrap back, you are on! Scrapping is just like chatting and the best part is that you do not have a time lapse here...the scrap is on immediately!
Orkut also let you make communities, join them, report them as bogus and so on...which means that if you are a Mallika Sherawat fan and a beauty too(!), you can make a community on her and find your likes there...hints...hints!
Orkut also has a very valuable option...if you are a fan of someone, make the world come to know of that...add yourself on his/her fan list and there you are...a good way of telling someone that you are special to her/him!
This site has also the option to ward off the uninvited...since the site is free, accessible...it means un-restricted access for "wannabe" and "i want to make friendship with you" types...beware! You can block them and they will not bother you again...
Testimonials!this is one option which is available in hi5 as well...writing good or bad about your friend is not easy...but if she/he is your friend, then it is not very difficult too...write a testimonial, get it approved and let the world see how good/best your friend is...a fun way to tell someone that you care!
Orkut also has other options...sending messages, putting an album together etc...These are features that the cyber citizens want...and they are getting it!
So here they are...10 reasons why I think you should join Orkut...there are many other...but I have not figured it out myself...orkut is not shying away from re-inventing and they are keeping in-sync of what is required and what needs to go...websites like these can make the cyber world a lot more interesting, intriguing and exciting...so what are you still waiting for...orkut-your time away!!!
