Check out the History option on most Internet enabled systems, you will definately come up

with a few entries of Orkut. Most of the people who've heard of it are IN it, rest haven't

heard of it and are partly better off.

Orkut is serving as the new age Opium for he tech savvy(A kind of a narcotic analgesic for your online avatar). And the site, originally intended

towards socialising, has been unable to resist the power of the internet which has taken its

toll and infiltrated this network with all sorts of online rubbish you can expect.

Warning: I'm not writing this to tell you the History behind Orkut or what it was Intended for, but for what it HAS become.

Reading the other reviews you MUST have found out that ORKUT can be used to

· Make new & Find your old friends, write testimonials, become fans etc etc

· Chat, Talk and Scrap(As they call it)

· Do the regular blah blah n stuff.

But trust me, it gradually does get addictive. You'll find yourself craving to check out your

scrapbook, fan list, joined communities et al.

It prove to be useful in terms that you can get your questions answered in related communities, you can, with a L O T of trial and error, locate old and new friends, you can speak your mind, which in real life you may be shy to do otherwise and a lot more lies at your disposal to explore, enjoy and share.

But dont be surprised to find out that your "friend" for a long time turned out to be a nerd

using a fake id!

Don't be surprised to find another ID with YOUR complete profile info and your pic being

used by someone else!(Actually Profile Duplicity has been a recurring problem)

Don't be surprised to accidentally come across some community blooming and flourishing merrily

which IS INTENDED to hurt Religious, National, Racial or Ethical feelings and members in scores viling away time by discussing "which-movie-to-dedicate-to-above-person".

Orkut is NOT ABOVE

"send-this-to-15-people-in-your-friend-list-before-this-coming-full-moon-or-be-
constipated-

for-the-rest-of-your-life" crap.

To be honest, the Pros and Cons are balanced at an obscene angle.

I'll give you some valuable suggestions:

· DO NOT post any personal information unless extremely neccessary(Which I doubt)

· Fully avoid uploading pictures of yourself and your family lest they be wronged with

· Do not trust people at face value

The rest lies in your hands(Occasionally, lies straight on your face too).give it a try if you want to and find out how "SOCIAL" it is.If you like it, fine, else it's never too late to delete your acoount(Statastically speaking, a few nanoseconds is, well, too late).
