I am an insurance advisor for Oriental Insurance. I have joined a year ago. I also deal with other psu companies. I want to inform the public that large scale irregularities take place in all these companies. Employees themselves do business in the name of their kith and kin. Due to that they harass the Insurance agents. Make them run from pillar to post for his trivial commissions.
Quite naturally no agent can afford to give good service. The public suffers. I also want to inform you that all kinds of absurd rules and regulations exist. Like an agent is attached to a particular branch and he cannot operate from any other branch of the same company. Why do they have so many branches then? Each branch is a unit by itself. So premium varies from branch to branch. Some branches do not deal in certain policies. Loading of premium is done arbitrarily to name a few. I am telling you the 'Inside story'.
So next time you pay premium for your car or bike be careful. Checkout whether it is in accordance with the tariff. See whether they have given the no-claim bonus. See whether any exclusions are made. See whether your car is insured for the right amount. The list is endless. And yes, don't join the agency force like me (until things improve. I don't know whether it will improve at all).
