D is for dracula and also for dentist!

There is nothing that petrifies me more than visiting a dentist. Its only when it becomes absalutely necessary to visit one that I muster up every ounce of courage I possess and drag myself to that frighful place. And when I sit on the dentists chair.i'live' the fears of the poor souls who died on an electric chair!

Well so much for this phobia of mine; I have had perpetual problems with my teeth ever since they grew! My milk teeth were quite strong; so strong that they had to be extracted when the permanent ones started coming out! So I was taken to that horrid chair where these were pulled out. Then ofcourse there were cavities. GOD knows that I brush my teeth .i ALWAYS brush twice a day.but I get cavities.! So ive had them filled.I dread that drill machine that that doc pokes into your teeth.eeeks that sound, that eekkkyy sensation. its worse than pain!

Very recently I got root canal done.and I can safely tell you that it was the most horrifying experience of my life. As I sat on the chair I timidly asked the dentist( ive never been to him before)'will it pain?' and he says' If it does, tell me and i'll give you an injection'. What kind of an answer is that! My heart skipped a beat when I saw that injection. the needle was  HUGE! So I chose to bear whatever pain I felt while he ruthlessly dug into my tooth with sharp and pointed needles.it was horrible. I could feel the steel thingies go right till the root of my tooth and it pained.but then I tought of the injection.

I had shut my eyes.but once I opened them in the middle because I wanted to see what the hell he was poking my gum with. and it was then that I saw that my dentist was wearing a tie with Scooby-doo on it.! hundreds of Scooby-doos were laughing at me.while I sat helplessly on that chair!

The worst part is that while pricking and poking he gathersed his students around me and tells them that they should'observe' the classic root canal happening.so im surrounded by a Scooby-doo dentist and three of his students who keep peering into my mouth and telling him what a good job he's done.! then he gets that scary drill and starts again.drizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz drizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz .I cringe! And he tells his student that he needs to be very carefull here or else he might tear my nerve or drill my bone! EEEkkkksssssssss I just want him to concentrate.!

As he finishes, he's put some contraption in my mouth that prevents me from shutting it.he removes his gloves and tells his student' I love root canals. they are like a work of art' .And I want to kill him! However I decide to be nice to him and manage to smile. because I have to go back to him for my final sitting on Monday!

People.i shared this with you just to emphasise on three facts Based on personal experience.

  1. Pease look after ur teeth. And even if u brush ur teeth regurarly( as I do) visit ur dentist for regular check ups. So that cavities dont have a chance of cropping up. These days thet have preventive coatings that help stop a budding cavity.

  2. If you have a problem, dont delay going to the dentist. I know we all hate it.but you've got to remember that it only gets worse. So save urself pain.go asap

  3. If you are really scared .chose a dentist who along with being good at his work can also calm you .he should be gentle, considerate( and preferably wears formal ties!)

PS: Forgot to tell you that I learnt during this very visit to the dentist that I will have to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted because of lack of space in my jaw.

I look up and ask'WHY ME LORD?'( I even brush regularly!)
