Iphone 5 – check, Optimus G- check, Galaxy S4 - check, Nexus 4 – check, Find 5 - ???? That is the case with most of us when we first here this name – the Oppo Find 5 and that itself is a pity as this device is up there with those big players in specifications, better in build and if given proper marketing can be headache to others. Let us take a look at the fantastic device.

Disclaimer – This is a specs review and not an actual review. The device is currently available in the market.

Build Quality – The company Oppo is relatively new in producing mobile phones but that doesn’t make it shy away from giving this device a fantastic build. On the whole the device looks like a big slab made up of glass, plastic and metal (Yes!! Its metal of course). Prima facie - A build quality far better than the S4, the optimus G or the Iphone 5). From the box to the device every inch of it screams CLASS ! In the front they have a solid glass slab. With a metal frame and a plastic back finish which is much better than the S4, the device stands out with its design itself. The device might feel a little bulkier and is thicker than he Xperia Z or the Iphone 5 but that helps in most of the cases as the device is very durable and wont break easily even if you try punching a nail through it. Enough said, this elegantly made device gets 5/5 in build quality.

Display – While 1080 p displays have become a norm these days, it still remains a luxury for people ona lower budget. Not any more as this oppo device is said to come at a sub – 30 price tag. The device has a 5 inch full HD display with a pixel density of 441 ppi. Apart from that the viewing angles seem excellent and watching videos or playing games will be a heavenly experience on this device. The IPS LCD display on the device blows off the AMOLED screen of the big guy (you know who!) . There is no flaw in the display whatsoever. Full marks to this as well. For an amateur in the segment Oppo has done a top notch job.

Battery Life – The device houses a 2500 mah battery enough to last atleast one and a half days of full usage. Surprisingly the device fares better than most of its competitors and even on using apps with high processing requirement the device fared well.

Software – This is somewhat disappointing , as it looks like an iphone skin on android. It is of common knowledge that Android lovers hate the Iphone UI and adding such a skin over the UI would seem disastrous. The app drawer is the most frustrating of the bunch, as it can't be organized alphabetically or sorted automatically in any way. The apps simply fall in the order that you installed them unless you manually move each app to where you want it. The device currently runs on the Android Jellbean 4.1 and an upgrade is expected.

Performance and Usability – The device houses a Quad core Snapdragon S4 pro which is clocked at 1.5 Ghz. It couples with 2GB of RAM and 16/32 GB internal memory variants without expandable memory. The device is powerful and matches upto its rivals very well. Regular apps run well and there are crashes what so ever even when the processor is pushed to its limits. The software is well optimized to use the processor well. The device also fares well considering its usability.

Camera – The device sports a great 13 MP camera in the rear and a 2 MP camera in the front. Both the camera are capable of taking HD videos and gives amazing low light performances. Oppo has adde many other software upgradations to the camera. But .I’m still not sure whether it can stand up to the likes of the Lumia’s Pureview which is a benchmark for smartphone cameras.

Price and Availability – The device is currently available in India for a price of Rs 27400 for the 16 GB variant and Rs 31200 for the 32 GB variant. And at this price it is a steal !

Thanks and Regards,
