Let me state this in first sentence only that I never like to give tech Specs in my review as it is available everywhere, but if you need it I can post it here?.I write these reviews for ?AAM JUNTA? like me who asks 4 questions generally like AVERAGE,COMFORT,LOOKS,DURABILITY and less bothered about Techie part.


So, I always say, ?See & Enjoy the difference? in my review?.



I am always fascinated by German Engineering. I feel, German Products are Rock solid and as if carved out of steel if we compare it to Japanese and Korean manufacturers. When I saw request for review on Opel Corsa,I jumped 2 TIMES from my Chair and then only started writing this review.(My chair is not as comfortable as Opel Corsa which I came to know later?.)


Opel comes under General Motors hood so hereafter I may mention GM instead of Opel.


While buying a new car, Corsa was also in my mind but ?PAISA kidhar se laooon??(Now ,I am adding Corsa to my Wish list?(May be some tobacco magnate on MS will gift it to me?  )


Opel is one of the prime European company, Corsa?s design was done at Opel?s R&D center at Germany but as far as I know Indian version has come from Brazil,where GM has very big design


Due to its Chevrolet badge, Opel has good market in the America.The first alterations were carried out to the hatchback model by GM Do Brazil under technical supervision of its German counterparts from Opel.


We are sharing a car pool for office amongst 3 friends.I have Indica,Parth has Corsa and Sandeep has Wagon R, I have driven these cars for atleast 1000 kms each.So,I have driven these cars and observed their performance almost everyday.




  1. Exterior




For Indian Version ,some major changes were made like Strengthening the Chassis and Floor, Suspension.


The front wheels are suspended by the universal coil spring over shock absorber arrangement known as a McPherson strut with an anti roll bar.(This works absolutely fantastic!!..I will elaborate this part somewhere else in this survey if MS permits me little space.) The steering knuckle design for India has also been altered and is lighter and easier to manufacture locally. Another suspension package alteration for India is the inclusion of the gas shock absorbers that provide more effective damping


The only bad part I have on this car is the looks!! The rear section which looks as if the boot has been added after some days on existing hatchbach. To save costs, the designers used the rear doors of the hatchback, virtually unaltered. As a result, the C-pillar and door frames are not well integrated into the boot section.




  1. Interior




The equipment levels and quality of the Corsa's interiors are really good. Quite simply, no other car in this lower mid-size segment comes packed with so many features. Apart from power steering, central locking, and power windows all around (done specially for India), you also get power-operated mirrors, a first for a car in this segment.


Height adjustment for the driver's seat is not there but that is OK for me. Back-lit power windows switches, rear defoggers, height adjustment for all seat belts, an instrument light dimmer, a 60:40 split rear seats.


The steering wheel, the barrel-shaped air vents, the same chunky and solid switchgear, even the unusual location for the cabin light (turned on by pulling the headlight switch) is something unique.Is it similar in Astra also??(Pls. correct me if I am wrong!!) The plastic of the Corsa's facia are matt black but not good. I will give 3 points out of 5 for this.


Driving position is best in its class.It's the opposite of the Ikon,Accent where large drivers can have tough time squeezing in between the steering wheel and the seat. So, here speaks german Engineering. The instrumentation with yellow needles and leaves a feel good effect when I was driving the car.


The Corsa in GLS trim comes with Opel's unique triple information display (TID) housed in a pod above the facia, giving you info on the time and date, audio settings and even the outside temperature.


Seat fabric is again made of superb material and extends into the moulded side- door pads. The rear seat has ample width and legroom for a car in this segment. Excellent thigh support. But I find, Ikon more comfortable at the rear.


The air conditioning system s good.


1.4 Sail's at Rs 4.40-4.87? all prices ex-showroom (Depending on Location)

  1. Average kya hai??(WHAT IS AVEARGE?)




12-14 kmpl only. Do not expect more than this. Even if dealer is promising more,do not believe.I have experienced this.




  1. Comfort?




Delighted with this?.Absolute luxury.Those who are staying at Pune and knows Hinjewadi area where IT park is located can understand this.This is a hilly area and lot of rough roads in the interiors.While test driving,I have literally driven this beautiful car as if I am driving a tractor or tank.(My Sales representative was sitting on seat next to me like who was not disturbed by my driving.. This speaks about the quality(of the car,of course!!)It was just cruising like offroader or SUV.Fantastic!! I am impressed by road handling 100000%.No car in this segment can match this !!If I buy this car in future,I will buy it obviously for this reason.




  1. Looks?




It looks little small in appearance than all Ikons,Accents,Esteems if seen from front and rear,but it is not actually.Looks are bit dated.


I don?t understand why GM is not giving it a BIG CAR look??Experts?Can you pls. answer(Now,do not give me the answers like changing Die cast on Assembly etc?GM can very well afford that..If their car is selling in good nos..)




  1. Indian Consumers always prefer looks first and then they go under its bonnet,




Corsa looks as if it is built to last longer. Engine is decent and pretty good and is 1389 CC, 88PS@6000rpm.(Still you need any more? Mail me.. I will send you detailed info.)


Over all car is Good but still leaves something to be desired in it. If you are OK with this go ahead and buy this car.
