This is my second car and I will share the story with you how did I go for an Opel Corsa. Well I had 4 cars in my list i.e Ikon Flair, Accent, Esteem VXI and Opel Corsa.


And my budget was also 5.10 Lacs max. So I was really not going for Esteem, Accent and Opel ...I was just checking the Ikon Flair as they had recently slashed their prices to 4.96 so I thought why not to switch to a bigger car from my 800.


So I called Ford people and they evaluated old 800 EII car and said that they will purchase it. At this time I did'nt knew that the corsa prices were also slashed. So when I went to took the delivery of the new car, the dealer refused to take my old car at the price decided and so I left the Ikon showroom...this is the time when I really started looking in the newspapers and then I came to know about the corsa, accent and esteem...I called maruti, accent and at last I called opel..! Esteem and Accent was out of my budget so I dropped the idea of Esteem, Accent and Ikon (Due to dealer).


Now when I called the Opel people they called me to visit their showroom and they gave me a brief 1 hour show on the car and then we took the test drive. I was so impressed by the sales team and the features of the car that I thanked god that I have'nt bought the Ikon Flair.


When taking the test drive I was simply amazed by the performance. The car was a real jet. In the test drive a Octavia dude tried to race with me..I was amazed by the car's stability and power. It was true performance.


Also I liked the Opel because the dealer was true at every point. Before I purchased the car the sales guy told me that the parts are expensive and car has a low mileage in comparison to others but the safety etc. is best.


That's the moment when I really decided to purchase the car. I bought the Intense Black colour. I bought the Car for 5 Lacs in which the dealer gave me half insurance (means he paid half amount for the insurance) and wheel covers, mud flaps, foot mats, 2 company fitted speaker, 2 free washes.


Also I forgot to mention that when I came to know that this car is Euro III then I thought that this car is really value for money.


And I finally bought the car in december 2003 and I am really really satisfied with the car. The AC is true performance. The pickup of the car is excellent. In simple words this is the best you can have in 5 lacs.


What I did'nt liked ?


Well a 5 Lac does not comes with defogger which is not more than Rs. 5500 only. There's no space for cigarette lighter as this is an environment friendly car.


Also about the safe thing about this car:


I recently had an accident with a rickshaw ...and believe I just took off from the road my speed was just 20 or less I think and the rickshaw came suddenly and we collided with each other ...i just lost the head light...and not even a single dent but few scratches but they were removed with rubbing. But the rickshaw was totally broken. The impact was too much and I did not applied the brakes :)


So in safety I give it 5.


At highways this car becomes a true jet plane the stability is magnificent. the ABS disc brakes makes it more stable and powerful Having alloys is another benefit.


So i'll again say: I am not DRIVING FAST, I am FLYING LOW!


Also I am not from the company. I am just another satisfied opel customer. ;-)


New Information Added on Dec-15-2005. Almost after an year my experience is that if you got a good dealer then you're getting a really good car. Why I talk about delaer ?


Well the car is pretty cool in itself but if your dealer is not good enough to take care of your car then it won't last long. So you better check when purchsing weather the after sales is good or not. Anyways on 2nd service I delivered my car atworkshop at about 11 AM ..and they promised that it will be ready by 5 PM. My office is near to the workshop so they deliver the car to my office. But this time one of the employee did not delivered the car at even 7 PM after several requests to him and other on phone none of the staff did this. So I had to took a rikshaw to get my car this was so embrassing..they said that no one is available at this time and they are here for distress calls.


But oh well when I reached dealership I saw that everyone was there selling cars to new customers. Then I got pretty mad and I wrote emails to GM delhi. I got a call from GM within 1 hour of email. They apologized to me for the trouble. Then after talking to GM I got call from dealership owner..he also apologiozed. The guy who was handling me at the time of service, the service manager and another technician were dismissed by the owner. I have now 2 free services from dealer as a compensation. Next day they sent people to my office and took my car to workshop it was thoroughly checked for all errors etc. Even GM techs. were called to analyze everything lol. So all in all I think yes this is a good dealer and servcies by GM are also good.

Almost after 1 and half year of driving and smashing below are the things I felt good/bad about the car and dealer:




  1. Car is still in good condition.




  2. Tyres will not go more than 20000 kms.




  3. Fuel average has nothing to do with driving slow it will give you 12-14.




  4. The dealer in Chandigarh sucks and knows nothing about the car.




  5. There is only 1 dealership in Chanidgarh so you don't have any alternative to go anywhere else becuase next dealer is tooooooo far in Ludhiana.




  6. There are no dedicated GM Engineers available like in Ludhiana dealership.




  7. Dealer keeps on taking things in/out from car whenever you take car to them.




  8. if you complain about anyone to GM he just gets fired and another newbie comes in to take over who also knows nothing about the car and commitments made to customers.




  9. The dealer management changed 2 times but still no good.




  10. Overall car is still good but dealer is not cool. I don't know how the car is managing itself.
