Hi readers,
I own a blue opel corsa and that is one hell of a machine which has got excellent stability and pick-up,i still remember a year ago when my bro was crazy after ford ikons and my dad crazy after hyundai accents,my bro wanted performance and my dad wanted good mileage and I made them test drive the opel corsa and put on a smile on both their faces.
Well to be honest with u the mileage inside the city is bad,it's like 10km/litre and thatz with the air-condition on and whe u push the cars and i've never tried fuel economy inside the city but all I know is at one time I burned 750rupees for a 250 kms ride.
But talking about the pick-up,i bet no ikons or accents can beat that intial pick up it's so quick,u engage in the first gear and floor the accelerator there is a sudden burst of power that thrusts u to a 60 in 4.8 seconds tell me if any ikon or accent can beat that record and i'm talkin abt this 1.4 version not the 1.6 version and guess what guys the power steering is so light that u can swing the car in your little finger at 80k's and guess what the breaks are excellent and u can just push the brakes to see that the car lunges in the front more or like this front dip to slow u down that quick,it's a wonderful feeling and by the way the shocks are superb u won't feel even the speedbreakers it's so smooth unlike the ikons where the shocks are hard and u feel the thuds when u step into potholes,but the most impressive of that car is the synchronised stability of the speed,pick-up,power steering and breaks I mean the handling is excellent.
Now talking about the most intersting part the cruises.I've driven many times to my home town it's far south of chennai and it normally takes 12hours in bus and 13 hours in train,and in normal cars u can do it in 10hours and u won't beleive it guyz i've done that 700kms in 8hours flat excluding an hour of lunch break.
My car easily took a 160kms effortlessly and guess what no jerks no shakes just pure cruising at that speed and the most impressive about that thins is u can shift to the fifth gear as well as 40 and keep goin up say another 100kms if u'r not in a hurry and I still remember a moment when I was like doin a 50 in fifth and there was this big truck,a lorry and a 18 wheeler in my front and I had a bus closin in the opposite direction and all I did was cut down the aircondition and shifted to third gear and floorer the accelerator and it was just like few seconds the car passed all of them like a bullet and had so much space for the bus to pass through as my car lunged to a 95 in third,u can never find that sudden burst of power in any other car.Last but not least talkin abt my mileage I was driving that 700kms with air conditon on and speeds like 130-150 most of the times and u won't beleive I got a 15km'litre mileage and guess what the previous time my dad drove with air conditon and speeds not exceeding 100kms and he got a mileage of 17kms/litre so tell me now guys isin't that enough in the highways for a powerful petrol car.
Also talkin about the safety features that car has got a solid body with thick side impact bars and u can always trust that in a german make car,and it took an impact at 150 crumpling itself and saving me although the roof crumpled hope u guys read about my accident anyway no car could save u if you are crazy and mad to drive a 150 in a single road:)But guys 6.8 lakhs of u;r money is worth if u put into this car and if u still want more opel astra is there and I heard the only disadvantage of the car is it licks horses test drive and see it for yourself.Nothin more.catch u soon with more stuff.
