I visited Ooty back in 2012 and this was the first attraction place in I visited in Ooty. Located just at borders of the of Ooty town, infact inside the ooty town and that why this garden is a must visit place and no one missed it out.
I Loved the Place. Loved the nature and variety of flowers and the design cuttings made with those Flowers and plants.
One should visit this Garden for Photography and relaxation. And everyone starting from kids to old people will love this place a lot. Because my mom loved this garden to the core!
PROS -
1) The Garden is full of Flowers and Greenery parks. Best place to sit and relax
2) Very Clean and maintained very well. Those day back in 70s, this garden was used to be Shooting spot, only because of its cleanliness. And even today the same is maintained.
3) Not restrictions in sitting in garden. Because at many other Garden, sitting is mostly determined prohibited. But one should not pluck any flowers or damage any plantations.
4) Very Reasonable Entrance Fees. Its Rs.20 for Adult, Rs.10 for Kids, Rs.30 For Cameras and Rs.75 for Video Cameras. No extras for Phone Cameras. Not like Junk Vandalur where we have to pay for every cameras including phones separately even though there are almost no Animals there. And its worth paying every penny here.!
5) Very systematic viewing Facility of the Garden. There is no way that one would miss anything. Not like parks in Chennai which is Absurd.
6) Highly Recommended for photographers. Especially those who love Flower Micro photography.
CONS -
Well I felt nothing bad in here. But here are some I could say.
1) Fees were raised bit more because of Season time.(But its worth paying it)
2) There is not enough parking for cars. We did not had any problem because we took our a Travels SUV. But might be a problem for those who take their own cars.
3) Toilet were not that clean because toilets there are portable ones.
4) Very difficult finding Drinking water source. But its acceptable because one won't need water to drink there because of pleasant cool weather.
Points to remember -
This Garden or the whole of Ooty is not Advisable to Visit during Rain.
Try taking a floor sheet or a towel to lay over grass to Sit because the grass is always seems to be wet there in the mornings, so that the sheet wont make your dress wet.!
Don't forget your Camera. DSLR is advisable.
VERDICT - Overall, this Botanical Garden is a must visit place at Ooty. Best suited for people of all ages, couples and Trendy crowds.
