I remember when I had just come down to India for a vacation and wanted to meet some friends at On Toes at Vile parle, my friend and me approached the counter and I gave the man ( who was one of the partners owning the place) a 1000 Rupee note (At the time the note was first introduced).
This guy very quickly snatched the note from my hand, made it dissapear into his pocket and then reminded me the amount to be paid for the cover charge. When I told him that I just handed him a thousand rupee note in any case he denied it and then started abusing me and told me to get lost or pay up. I even showed him a wallet with 12, 000 rupees worth of Rs1000 denomination notes, but he insulted me even more and threatened me with dire consequences. Since I wanted to meet friends after such a long time and the monetory loss didn't bother me, I paid him the amount. The whole night he kept a bouncer standing beside me to add insult to injury.
The owner was not afraid of the law or a lawsuit and said he would fix me if I tried anything. Inside the place was not any better than a B grade eatery and the toilet was also stinking and dirty. When I got home I had severe stomach upset and I won't be surprised if they added something to my food.At the end of the day inspite of everything the place is just a slimy, shabby joint.
