Thought I will pen down the experience with Onida washing machine that was with me over the past 3 yrs. its usage is limited to once a week and till now it never gave an issue. Cleans the garments well (Comparing this with an OLD IFB at my parents place, this looks better)
Pros
- Cost was the main reason for selecting Onida: Costed me near to 17K (MRP was 20K and was offered near to 3K discount in Bangalore), 5.5Kg, variable spin speed, heated.... while the basic IFB senorita was costing near to 15. So VFM
Trouble free - Till date never had any concern with this equipment
Service centre response: I had to shoft from BLR to TVM I contacted the help desk for clarification on transportation and refitment and the response was instantaneous. Impressed
Installation - The top frame was found to be broken and was pronpty replaced the very next day
Cons
Not an Indian product: The machine is made in Turkey and Onida just markets it under its name. its full y imported. I dont know if its a con, but I like Desi made items.
Noisy : Not a direct belt driven washing machine and hence noisy. My friend who lives in an apartment has concerns of the high noise when switched on at night
Costly in case of a repair: While mine was trouble free till date, my friend who got it on the same say with me had some issue with the unit and it costed it near to 5.5K for the replacement of a chip. thanks ti fully iported unit, the entire assembly had to be changed. Scary.
No timer: Seen the new LG machines that has timer to finish and I wish it had this feature
Overall I think its a VFM washing machine and I would recommend this over the costlier IFB ones. heard Siemens provide better machines than the desi ones.
