Updated on 25-10-06 :- Dont expect After sales service from them. Now, this dvd plaer is not able to play cds/dvd from video parler shps. When I tried to log complaint in the service centre, nobody picks phone. Customer service person are very rude and they dont even listen the problem. This is really pathetic and good to know the real face of Onida.

I bought Onida 8300 model. This is one of the new models from Onida. DFX-8250 and 8080 are from same family and the difference is that 8250 can play Divx. DFX-8300 can’t play Divx & don’t have Dolby Prologic II & Virtual Surround. I think it replaces the famous 7100 model. It’s the smallest from Onida and cute looking. I got it for 3600/- in Pune from Dass showroom. In MS this is not listed yet so I have to put it in 8080 section. Well, I was new to DVD segment and I missed out these feature by buying this product. So, I thought to update ppl who wants to buy DVD player and miss imp feature. It seems Onida launch this model to be in competition. As other DVD player are in the range of 4K which offer same as 8250 & 8080. So, 8300 is good buy if you want to save few bucks and going to buy 5.1 DTS Decoder and watch DVD only. Good about this Product –1. It plays DVD Video, VCD Audio, DVD + - R/RW, CD + - R/RW, JPEG KODAK PICTURE CD, MP3, SVCD, WMA. 2. MPEG –II Format 3. It got Parental Lock. You need to change the default key 4. Support Video aspect 16:9/4:3 PS/4:3 LB. 5. Power Off Resume Function – so in case light goes off your movie will start from the same location. 6. Onida claims that DVD player are region free but it is from region 5. Salesperson told me that I can unlock it with some code. I read that in some review in MS. 7. Progressive Scan Output – You have to check that TV supports that and you need a separate cable for it. 8. 32 X fwd and 1/16 in slow motion. Bad about this Product –1. Dont have Dolby Prologic II & Virtual Surround. 2. Dont support MPEG format 4 3. Doesn’t play Divx Dolby Prologic II - Suppose if you have a 2-channel stereo sound (VCD, MP3, Audio CD) with you. This you can hear in 5.1 channel surround sound with the Dolby Prologic II. This is an advanced decoder, which derives 5.1 channel surround sound from any two channel stereo sound track. Virtual Surround If you have only Two/Four Speaker and want output like a 5.1 speaker then you can use this feature for simulation. Rests of the things are same with other models of Onida. How to Setup cheapest Home Theater :-)Connect it with Stereo Amplifier (I have Artis 4.1 speakers)– Most of us will have 2.1 or 4.1 speaker set with us. As we buy these for computer, we can use them for DVD player also. 1. Connect all 4 Speaker with subwoofer. 2. Connect AV Cable (Yellow, white, Red connector) to TV & DVD Player. Plug both side of Yellow connector to DVD & TV. Now you will be able to see video. 3. Close the TV & DVD. Don’t connect audio connector while they are ON. 4. Now Take another AV cable and put the red & while connector into DVD. Connect other part (either red or white or both) to subwoofer. 5. Switch on TV & DVD. Play any DVD and enjoy the sound. You can change the Dolby and sound setting via menu. I didn’t notice any major difference. But sound quality was better than the TV. I have Sansui Hard Rock with 1400 PMP watt speaker. Later I added another 2.1 speaker system with my 4.1 and sound was superb while watching Terminator –II. Well, my eyes are set on Sony wireless home theater or Philips HT, so this is good as initial buy. If you want instructions on Speaker arrangement, try out this site - https://audioholics.com
