Oneplus is a Chinese Startup company founded by the ex employees of OPPO. Their motto is to provide a phone with high specifications at a budget price. My husband got interested and bought the device due to its popularity in internet circles when it was launched in 2014. The company labelled the phone as "2014 Flagship Killer." This review is being written after using the phone for almost a year.

THE PLUSES

It certainly is a killer phone. It has 5.5 inch Full HD Screen, 3 GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage(16GB is also available), a 13 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front camera for selfies and 3000 MAH battery. Design wise, the phone is very sleek for its configuration and easy to hold in one hand despite its large screen. Our phone has a Sandstone back cover which is wonderful for a tight grip and it is surprisingly scratch resistant. There is gorilla glass protection on the front. The navigation keys on the front are back-lit and are very responsive. The power button on the right hand side and volume rocker on the left side work perfectly fine.

The main pluses of the phone are its large and vibrant screen, ample ram and processor for a wonderful and quick user experience, more than enough storage of 64 GB(we load large movie files when going on long journeys). Watching videos is a pleasure on Oneplus One. The speakers though are not very loud, but this does not affect much because we generally use headphones for videos and games. I must say however that the call quality is top notch and no issues with Mobile or Wifi internet connectivity and internet browsing is a breeze.

The 13MP rear camera and the 5MP front camera take reasonably decent photographs in good lighting conditions. The 3000 MAH battery is more than sufficient for a busy day's requirements for an average internet user(facebook, Whatsapp and some browsing). Once charged, it never goes out of juice until late in the night. So battery is also a plus.

The one particular advantage of Oneplus One is that there is lot of interest on this phone among Android developers. There are a lot of custom ROMs available for this phone and my husband keeps switching between his favorite ROMs from time to time. This is an added advantage because we are not limited to what the company offers officially. A word of caution is that the process of installing custom ROMs is to be done very carefully and after a lot of research. Otherwise, one wrong step can'brick your phone', i.e., make your phone useless.

THE MINUSES

In the budget of Rs 22000, (now under 20K), there are not many minuses in the Oneplus One.

However, there are certain areas where things could have been a little better. The phone is single sim only. Though this is not a big drawback, it feels like that compared to all the Chinese alternatives nowadays. The camera could have been a little better, especially in low light. The Speakers may have been a little more louder, specially for music and videos. However, considering the value of money you get from the device, these drawbacks are very minor.

So overall, Oneplus One is killer deal in the price range till recently. However, there are some serious contenders in budget phone segment with competition from Xiaomi, LeEco and such companies offering great specifications at a very low price.

So folks, this is my review of Oneplus One Mobile Phone.
