1ST OF ALL I MUST TELL U THT I DNT READ MUCH......INFACT NOTHNG AS COMPARED 2 WHT READNG AS A HOBBY MEANS....BUT BELIV ME I STARTED READNG THS NOVEL AT 12 MIDNITE N FINISHED AT 4:45AM N SLEPT AFTER READNG THE WHOLE.....

The story begins with a train journey from Kanpur 2 Delhi that the author takes in which he meets a beautiful girl. The girl offers to tell the author a story on the condition that he has to make it into his second book. After a lot of hesitation, the author agrees.

Claimed to be based on a true story, the author chooses a person named Shyam Mehra as the protagonist, who is one of the 6 call center employees featured in the novel in detail. The remaining are Esha Singh, Radhika Jha, Varun Malhotra ( I liked his character), Priyanka and Military Uncle. All of them belong to the same team and their manager is a person named Subhash Bakshi, who is shown to be a very cunning and negative character..... rest U SHOULD READ FROM THE NOVEL.

One nite at d call centrerevolves around a group of six CALL CENTRE employees working in Connexions in Gurgaon. It is filled with a lot of drama with unpleasant things happening to all of the leading characters. The story takes a dramatic and decisive turn when they get a phone call from GOD.

The phone call from God is one of the salient features in the novel. The author has represented as a friendly figure rather then a boss. He is shown to talk in modern English rather than the stereo-typical pure English that one usually encounters God saying.

CALL FROM GOD.....

In order to cheer themselves up, all the lead characters of the novel decide to go and enjoy at a nite club. After enjoying for a while, they come out and while driving Vroom started to feel nauseated bcoz of drinking alcohol and they had to stop and venture out. While returning, they faced a life-threatening situation when they crashed into a construction site. They were left with their Qualis hanging over a mesh of iron construction rods. As the rods began to yield slowly, they started to panic. They were also not able to call for help as there was no cell phone network at that place. In this situation, Shyam's mobile phone started ringing.

The phone call was from God. He talked to all of them and gave them suggestions to improve their life. After that, He also advised them how to get their vehicle out of the construction site.

When they emerged out, they had clear-cut goals in their mind and on returning to the Call Centre, carried out their plans with dexterity.....

FROM THE AUTHOR.......

"I think the book sells because people can relate to the characters. Everyone knows a Shyam or a Priyanka," he says.

"I have not written it for the cocktail circuit. It is unfair to compare (TV cartoon character) Bart Simpson with Shakespeare, though both are brilliant in their own ways."

The bottomline, he says, is that a work should strike a chord with people.

"My books touch the Indian middle class, where I also come from. I understand their problems, and can make them entertaining."

Bhagat says that while he is having fun working on the screenplay for the film adaptation, his book is also a message to young people not to give up their dreams for a few thousand rupees.

.

AND LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST.....

Bollywood film director Rohan Sippy has bought the rights for producing a movie based on this novel. The author, Chetan Bhagat, will be the screenplay writer for the movie. The casting for the movie is still undecided. so jus WAIT N WATCH....
