I have not read the book written by Chetan Bhagat, but I am sure it must be worth going through. That too, when I myself have been in the same Industry for Approx 5 Years now.
I am not too sure whom to hold responsible for??? It maybe the current Job scenario in this country, maybe the current requirement of the common man, maybe the high skill requirement to earn & survive in this ' Developing Country', or maybe the fast & good money earned for speaking a language, properly in the best possible way, that's of maximum usage in this world.
Whatever, maybe the reason. The fact is, that this industry has given an opportunity to lakhs of people to earn and live. So what, if one has to make someone understand the basic difference between a Cup Holder and a CD ROM Tray, So what, if one has to help someone to know that their money is secured with a financial org, which itself is into deep financial debt, So what, if one has to make someone understand the basic concept of a Debit & a Credit, So what, if someone out there is not being able to understand that the basic reason their computer's not working cause of power breakdown and not manufacturing issues.
Of course, the above lines are just the humorous part of the whole concept. The main and the productive part is, that there are certain processes that are so critical, that one has to be a real genius to handle that. The people who are working nights out here, are the people who have the maximum knowledge & depth of the whole process, that they can deal with anything and everything related to it. Whether it's banking, Medical, Accounting or even simple brand endorsement.
These people, who are either some Raghu, Devender, Shalini or Seema. Are the ones who are Rags, Dave, Sheena or Sammy to the people who only think that only Rags can do and Raghu can not. These people need not put any Peudo names anymore, cause the industry has proved it's worth in this sector throughout the world. And with the development of Technology, more & more out sourcing is done and are coming in day by day. This shows that a Raghu or a Seema is ten times better than a Rags or Sammy, who is more aware of handling issues with a human touch, and a proper sensibility.
In a nutshell, I think that this industry has more positive aspects than the negative sides that gets highlighted.
