We went on the Sunday after Christmas for lunch at around 1:30pm. Found the restaurant empty but for a privacy seeking couple at peak restaurant lunch hour. The first red flag, we should have walked out at that time. There was no buffet which was something we used to look towards at the old Atria hotel before Radisson took it over. We were told that they are South Indian and Continental speciality, but the manager who took the order suggested Rogan Josh. Another red flag. We ordered Veg Gassi with appams, a continental fish steak, a chicken steak with special instructions to keep the Gassi non-spicy. Then followed a wait for over 40 minutes. We were told 25 minutes. After this, the dishes started coming one by one, not all together. Cold appams, a Veg Gassi morphed into Veg Chettinad came first. When we complained, the manager said Kitchen is downstairs. For a star hotel, they should have ways to carry food hot and not give lame excuses. The "Gassi" was spiced heavily and practically tasteless with no roasted coconut as one would have expected from a mangalorean preparation. The Chef came up, looked Tamilian and the mystery was solved why it tasted like Veg Chettinad. The manager who took the order now started hiding himself from our gaze as the next dish to follow was fish steak. It came with burnt lemon on top, when asked about that, the manager said lemon comes with fish - but I said not BURNT lemon. The burnt taste got into the fish steak also, was not a fresh fish. Altogether disappointing. The chicken steak was ok but the portions were too little in both. For an a la carte experience, do not go here, since we have not tried out their buffet, we cannot advise you about it.
