Once upon a time in Mumbai Again.. Tayyab Ali
Well I would just like to rate this one song from Ouatima. When I heard this one, the first thing that popped up in my mind was why? why would u alter the original which was easily a favorite?
In the Amar Akbar Anthony version, Rishi Kapoor wants to be with his lady love but her father is against it. Hence he creates a ruckus in the society by bringing the issue to everyone's notice in turn irritating the father. It's fun to watch Rishi Kapoor at his antics.
So the original song had an authentic feel to it with the eunuchs joining him and not many layers. The music felt real. Nothing over the top and I've surely enjoyed singing this song on my school trips. So I have a soft corner for the original.
In OUATIMA, the situation remains the same and we have Imran Khan who is really not as charming as Rishi Kapoor. Even with the video, it looks over-dramatized. Certain parts of the song remain the same but then lyrics has been modified to suit the modern janta's taste.
I feel our matru bhasha - hindi lyrics wins over the new Hinglish. So given a choice I'd listen to the old Tayyab Ali.
Although I'd like to make a special mention about the other song from OUATIMA, Yeh tune Kya kiya, beautiful song. A song you'd love playing over and over again.
