I am a great fan of reality shows and "On the Lot" definitely comes amongst the best ones on Air these days.
About the Show: On The Lot is a reality show with a difference. This time a hunt for the next big Director in America. In India this show is aired on Star World on Wednesday Nights at 8PM.
After a global search and over 12, 000 submissions, a group of talented filmmakers have been selected from the applicants. These finalists were brought to Hollywood, and given a theme around which they had to create a story and explain it to the Judges. This was followed by another elimination where in the directors were divided into teams and created a movie per team in 24 hours. This episode was especially interesting because of the team dynamics as everyone in the team was a Director!
There on the final contestants are given a week's time to produce a short film from a chosen genre. After the films are ready these are critiqued by a jury comprising of Carrie Fisher, Garry Marshall and other big names from time to time. The final verdict is however in the hands of the public who can vote for their favourite moviemaker.
Each round sees the elimination of one director who gets the least number of votes at the Box Office. The winner will be awarded with a $1 million Deal with Dreamworks.
Creator/ Producer: The show is the vision of Mark Burnett and Steven Spielberg. Mark Burnett is well known for his enterprising shows on TV. He has introduced several new concept to the world of television. Steven Spielberg is a man who has always been larger than life. His work is loved by one and all.
Hostess: Andrianna Costner is the hostess for this show. Her style of presenting and her outfits are both very classy. She does a very good job overall.
Contestants: The contestants are all very different from one another. But the common thread between them is their passion for making films. Their talent is commendable. They have created some great movies in the past few weeks. Few of my personal favourite short films are as follows
