Better than the best . Review on Omkara

In this story you get to see the consequences of the various shades in one's character. it basically deals with the extreme cases i.e. extreme love , extreme jealousy , extreme loyalty , extreme innocence , extreme power and intelligence. Here there is either BLACK or WHITE .... and hardly any GREY. This story shows you how one thought can ruin various lives. One thought of distrust , one thought of jealousy .......

The film starts with Langda Tyagi (Saif Ali Khan) in the frame with a new comer ( I am sorry I forgot his name) , who is suppose to marry Dolly (Kareena Kapoor). Dolly is madly in love with Omkara (Ajay Devgan) and so has abondoned her marriage. The two met when dolly was in college: got attracted to Omi and then confesed her love. Omkara is the 'BAHUBALLI' , a political post and is a very powerful man. He is working under Bhaisaab (Naseerudin Shah). Initially it seems as if it is a political film but as the film proceeds you realise that it is a love story. Omkara has two main assitants under him - Langda Tyagi and Kesu Phirangi (Vivek Oberoi). Omkara gets a promotion and so the position of Bahubali is supposed to be assined to either of the two. Langda tyagi expects that he would be that chosen one but omi had something different going on in his mind ... He made Kesu the Bahubali. ........... this is the twist that makes the story.

langda, who is extremely manupilative and jealous , along with that fellow who was suppose to marry Dolly ... makes a trap for Kesu. He proves it to Omkara that Kesu and Dolly have been sexually involved, And the consequences of this form the climax of the film.

MY REVIEW :

PLOT: Nothing could have been better . a very well written film. When the film starts you feel a little lost but in 10 minutes you get into the feel of the film. Some people founfd the film's end very filmy but I thought it was just apt. To create the required intensity it was very important for the film to end in that manner.

CHARACTERS: Each character was so well framed tht yo ucan relate to each of that. You can completely relate to LAngda's behaviour , HIs jealousy , his manupulation , the roughness in his character. Similarly the power and the insecurity of Omkara is also very well portrayed. the innocence of Dolly and the Loyalty and Honesty of Kesu.

DIALOGUES: the dialect is just perfect... very abusive but that is how it had to be.... the roughness that I have been talking about throughout my review couldnt have been achieved without this kind of dialogues.... too good. though there is a lot of abusive language , at no point you will think it is over the top ... you will always think it is justified.

CINEMATOGRAPHY: Beautiful is not the word. Each frame is captured so well. the lighting is brilliant .... the rawness is shown so well. the sex is also captured as aesthetically as possible.

MUSIC: This man is just a genius... vishal has given the music of lifetime... so different... so apt.... so strong.....

the Background score is also equally stron... and so are the itam numbers by Bipasha . one of the best part was when the title track plays.

ACTING : Saif steals the show completely. such a fine performer ... his character is indeed very powerful but he is so soso so so so so so goooood. there is no sense of the metrosexual Nawab who wears pink and carries it so well. here he is the dirty rack not washed for days ..so dirty so negative... almost throughout the film I thought it was only saif in the film who was important... it seems as if he is the main rather the only character and all the others just revolve around him .... what a screen presence.........! even when he walks .. dances ... abuses...

Ajay is good at doing such roles and so it wasnt a big deal for him to play omkara so intensely ...

Kareena as the innocent Dolly was very good. so innocent and so beautiful. she has proved once again that she is a beauty with a hell lot of talent .

Vivek was also at his best... had there been more to his character then even he would have proved himself better. but unfortunately Langda and Omkara were much more powerful characters.

Konkana also has a comparatively unimportant role but that noway stops her from proving it once again that she is one of the best actors.

Bipasha is also very good. she dances so hot and so good. never seen her like this before ansd she was very good.

at the end of it I think all the actors have performed exceptionally good. and one of the reasons for thisapart from their indivisual hard works is the director of the film - VISHAL BHARDWAJ

DIRECTION : AWESOME....... this man as I said is a genius ...if MAQBOOL was best ....... this is even better. what amazed me the most about him is that he has contributed in every aspect of this film ... be it music or screenplay or dialogues .... its his baby... and I am sure he is completely proud of it .

EDITING: just perfect... nothing is out of place..

please go watch the film....but dont watch it if you are going out there just to have fun... this is a film you will have to take really seriously....and if you claim to like watching movies... dont miss it....
