The screen comes alive with a rural UP. setting, and characters talking to each other in a dialect that is undoubtebly difficult to decipher. For the fisrt few minutes you try to latch onto the words as though consciously trying to refer to your mental thesaurus and generate meaning into the words. And then once you've caught on to the strong linguistics, the movie comes alive with tremendous energy.

Omkara, is, in my experience, a masterpiece. from the conception of the idea right upto the cinematics and dialogue and acting. I felt it was flawless. It may have lacked the bright lights and the melodrama of heavenly characters, but the two item songs by Bipasha, definately made a remarkable splash.

The complete credit cannot possibly go to Shakepeare alone for his brilliant storytelling, but also to the writer & director of Omkara. For, to conceptualize the idea into a setting in India of this nature and to convincingly follow it through is worthy of applaud. If there is one way to pass on old knowledge and stories, it is this way- by telling it in a more contemporary, easier to associate with manner.

If you are going for a movie for a dose on the art of movie making itself, this is certainly a good bet.

A few scenes that leave swell emotion areā€¦ The dialogue between Kareena's father and Ajay at the start: 'If a daughter is not loyal to her father, can she ever be loyal to her lover?';

The tilak scene where Ajay Devgan smears Vivek Oberoi's complete forehead in red.

The conversation between Saif and Raju, who is in love with Kareena, at the banks of the river. Again, note Saif's expressions when Raju mocks at him: 'What could you do when Omkara made Kesu the lieutenant?';

The 'kamar-bandh' sequence in the second hour, when Ajay tells Kareena to search for it;

All sequences between Saif and Ajay, when Saif tries to poison Ajay's mind against Kareena and Vivek;

The climax - the 'suhaag raat' sequence - and the dastardly act that follows. It would be wrong to reveal the end, but the conclusion to Kareena's character is sure hair-raising.

Sif Ali Khan has made an astounding performance. It would not be surprising for him to sweep all the awards this year round. And althoguh Ajay Devgans character is like an extension of his latter character from Apharan, he has done a predictably swell job. Kareena has been convincing and Konkena has been good, but I cant seem to understand why she cant get away with her rythm in her dialogue delivery, she has the same speech pattern in every movie of hers. That is something which I a little irritable.

overall, a must watch for all those movie critics.
