So my title is a take on Taran Adarsh's poor statement this morning, where he throws massive praise towards the team of the egoistic "director" Farah Khan and her "actor of choice" SRK. The fact is, as a trade analyst Taran may be right that OSO is one of SRK's biggest hits(speaking from a strictly financial viewpoint). But as a critic, Taran yet again proves that either he is a puppet hired by big name movie-makers to praise their disastrous products. Or either he has lost it to the extent where retirement is approaching faster than he would ever think himself. He is quick to start wars of hatred with guys like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, calling an artistic masterpiece like SAAWARIYA "dull" while giving a joke of a product such as "HEYY BABY" a massive thumbs up. Obviously, one would think either Sajid gave his entire marketing budget to Taran, or either Taran was retarded enough to join forces with a foolish director like Sajid and start a pointless war with a genius like Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Anyways, getting to OSO, what makes it a supremely weak product afterall. Number one, of course, is the "director", Farah Khan. I admit EKLAVYA was one of the most dull movies ever, but it had a logic to it. Farah, who earlier this year challenged the abilities of Vidhu Vinod Chopra after pointlessly criticising the choice of EKLAVYA for the Oscars, should look at her own products first. MAIN HOON NA should have been titled differently.perhaps SRK HAI NA.or SCRIPT NAHIN HA NA.because Shahrukh's starpower effortlessly steered a scriptless movie to success. Now we all should respect SRK's starpower, but enough is enough.while it is okay for a rising actor to take advantage of his popularity and do movies just for Box Office success, an established actor(SRK) with a massive fan following should avoid working with a choreographer turned useless director like Farah Khan AT ALL COSTS. Tomorrow Farah will be able to mock fun at a genius like SLB only because OSO did better than SAAWARIYA, while actually it was SRK's starpower during the Diwali period that got no competition from the newcomers Bhansali introduced.  Think about it Farah.can you launch Ranbir and Sonam in their debut movies and release your crap on a day when DEVDAS released? You should do the math yourself.

Now, with the story discussed so many times, I will get straight to the point. OSO is seemingly KARZ revisited, with a dominant theme of rebirth. A junior artist gets killed while in love with a top actress and he is reborn into the star of tomorrow. He then returns for revenge against the shrewd director who was responsible for his death. Yes, it is fictional to the MAX and yes that can be entertaining too. But in the case of Farah Khan, the only entertainment that can matter to the viewer is to watch SRK for 2 hours and 46 minutes and celebrate those moments while in the cinema hall. No story matters, no script matters.if anything that matters except for SRK is perhaps the choreography, who to her credit Farah can still manage to a decent level.

The camerawork is superb, the cinematography is of high quality, and needless to say, the picturisation of songs is superb. But unlike MAIN HOON NA where Farah also scored in the presentation of Sushmita Sen, here Deepika Pakudone's beauty is presented at the best level only in bits and parts. No doubt Deepika is gorgeous, but watch the "NAAM HAI TERA TERA" video from Himesh Reshammiya's blockbuster album AKS, and you will know Deepika has a potential to look much better, especially when she is playing the part of a mainstream Bollywood actress. Music too is a plus point here, just as it was in the case of MAIN HOON NA. Vishal-Shekhar are finally back in form and have something to offer. That's it for the technicalities.I am sure they sound way better than the actual part of the film that matters.STORY!

Taran Adarsh always keeps pointing out how the viewer cares most about the story when bashing some good low-key movies. But when big production houses deliver crap like MAIN HOON NA, DHOOM 2, PARTNER, HEYY BABY, and OSO, Taran contradicts his own statement and typically states, "Leave your thinking caps behind at your home". Well dear Taran, why can't we do the same in case of some of the other movies you bash.answer this and I'll gift you a thinking cap too! So yeah, story is clearly missing.what about the performances.DISASTROUS!

Shahrukh Khan hams in the initial reels. Period. Farah has presented him and Shreyas(more on him later) in quite a feminish way that irritates the viewer limitlessly. While you can strictly forgive the get-up for being periodic, you cannot forgive SRK for acting like an amateur throughout the first half. He does manage an entertaining expression every once in a while he has a scene with Deepika, but on the whole his first half hamming reduces any impact of a second-half return. Yes he has scored with a tremendously rebuilt physique, but as a performance his fans can only strictly take back home some moments of entertainment he provides. On the whole, SRK is no great shakes and his fans can be consoled to an extent since it is quite easily Farah's fault for the most part.

Arjun Rampal tries very hard to put life in an otherwise predictable character. Yes, they are evil people in the world who almost have no reasons for their bitterness, but Farah has repeated the pointlessly war-promoting type character she introduced in MAIN HOON NA via Suniel Shetty. The truth is, Farah can't handle the basic characters, so we should not expect her to handle the complex negative parts. Arjun had no option but his own input to rely on and you have to give him credit for pulling the role off to his best potential. Shreyas Talpade is lively throughout, though a return to meaningful cinema is suggested after strokes of disaster like APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY and now OSO. Kirron Kher is ruthlessly wasted in a role that needed an over-the-top actress. Kirron's acting potential is made a joke out of as Farah makes sure that Kirron overacts just as much as she can.

Deepika Pakudone easily steals the show because she has something fresh to offer. But other than that, it is too early to call her the actress of the future. For me, the best debutant award still should be reserved for Jiah Khan for a confident performance opposite the ultimate Shahenshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan. So what if SRK was the opposition in this case.Gracy Singh pulled off a confident debut opposite Aamir Khan and then went on to work with Sanjay Dutt and Anil Kapoor in her next two biggies. After all it is a mainstream role these actresses have to play opposite these big guys one day if they want to be at the top. But what Jiah did was almost unthinkable for some actresses.and she pulled it off wonderfully. Back to Deepika.she is a beautiful girl with decent acting potential and if she signs the right movies(skip Farah Khan for one), she has a bright future in the industry. Talking of the industry, it is present in almost its entirety as a galaxy of stars makes special appearances here and there.they already knew how much of a favour Farah needed with a disastrous script like OSO on hand.
