Another mass appealing film, why oh why?  And the sad part about it, the Indian audience are accepting it, it’s the same thing we are watching over and over again, does the Indian audience get sick of watching the same thing over and over again.

This movie was like a Karz 2.  Oh I forgot, this is the same audience that rejected 1971, Dharm, Saawariya, Phir Milenege, Water (which got huge international acclaim), Eklavya, Awaarapan, Gandhi My Father, Dhokha, Omkara, Swades, My Brother Nikhil, Tango Charlie, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Bose, My Wife’s Murder, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Marna, and Kyon Ki bite the dust.  However, garbage like Heyy Babyy, Partner, Kyaa Kool Hain Hum, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Bhagam Bhag, Phir Hera Pheri, Dhoom 2, Garam Masala, Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Dus, Kaal, Zeher, Aksar, 36 China Town, Tom Dick and Harry, Apna Sapna Money Money and Om Shanti Om doing very well at the BO.  Yes, our Indian cinema does a bright future of only comedies and mass appealing films doing well at the BO.

Every time we take one step forward, we always go back five steps.  Our cinema has no future, and it will never progress.  People claim Saawariya is weak, it’s not Saawariya that’s weak, it’s the Indian audience minds that are weak (I’m sorry for my talking, but it’s the truth, and I’m an Indian).  They will never accept anything new and that’s not the regular Indian film, it has to be the same routine over and over again.

With Om Shanti Om, its tries hard to entertain, but it fails miserably.  While the first half is okay, the second half is torture to watch.  OK?  SRK over the top acting?  Dard-E-Disco?, and the list goes on and on, and yet the Indian audience accept this as entertainment?  What are they smoking in their pipe?

The music does work very well.  Other than Dastaan-E-Om Shanti Om and Dard-E-Disco, the other songs are well-tuned.  The 70s look the film is well-filmed.  Akshay Kumar is damn funny is his short role.  He had me cracking up!

There are many questions that remained unanswered and so many flaws in the films (let’s name a few, not all):

SRK has a phobia of fire, how come in the end, he overcomes it within 5 seconds flat?

SRK all of a sudden remembers his past and even his drunk sequence?

Deepika character in the second half?  Yes, she has the same face as Shantidevi, but all the time, she is doing absolutely nothing!

The entire second half is a drag.  I suggest when watching the first half, walk out the cinema

SRK “new” body. God help us all

Kirron Kher over the top acting

Arjun Ramphal character suffers hugely in the second half

Tries a lot hard to be cool, but it ended up looking like a fool

And many many more

Well, is OSO worth watch?  NOOOOOOOOOOO!  If you are looking for entertainment, watch true mass appeal films like Andaz Apna Apna and Hera Pheri to name a few.  There are too many flaws, yet the Indian audience accepts whole-heartedly.

Atleast I learned something from Om Shanti Om.  The Filmfare Awards incident.  It proves that although SRK is not the deserving winner based on the nominations, he will still get it no matter what.  The same thing may happen again in real life with Om Shanti Om.

It happens only in India and with the Indian audience.  WE, as audiences, need to learn something new.
