OLX.in-Good website for used things. Review on Olx

Once there was a time when just E-bay used to sell 2nd hand products along with brand new products(as far as I know) and I bought 2-3 old nokia fones at that time. Now there are some dedicated websites to buy or sell 2nd hand products. Olx is one of them and I have an account with them and already sold 2 products through it.

Basically these sites work as a medium of communication between the potential buyer and seller. The site itself does not have too much important role apart from a role of the medium unlike Flipkart, Amazon etc which have some responsibilities concerning product quality, item delivery, customer complaints, refund request etc.

Without any further ado I will just discuss my experience with this site in terms of Pros and Cons.

PROS -

# The site has minimalistic interface, not at all overwhelming for first time visitors.

# Design of the site is good and modern.

# Creating account is simple. E-mail and mobile numbers are to be verified for better response.

# Location based search is very nicely implemented in the site. They cover many places in their location database.

# Posting a free ad is very simple and intuitive. U can give enough details of the product u intend to sell. U can add maximum 8 photos per ad. Realistic Price Suggestion is there for your convenience.

# Priority ad service is also present(probably of 2 types) which is a paid service but the good part is it will not make a whole in your pocket.

# If u are a potential buyer searching for something, U can easily search for it in your nearby areas as I mentioned before location-based search is good here.

# Wide range of products and services are there.

# Olx app for mobile devices is very good and simple. U can easily manage your account from the app.

# U dont need to show/share your fone number for selling anything, u can just chat with other members. If u have the app, u will be notified every time if anybody writes to u. This is good for keeping privacy and avoiding unwanted calls.

CONS -

# I did not find any major disadvantage of this site. But I think that in case of filling the details of a product prior to submit an ad, there must be minimum threshold/limit of characters/words as well as images.because  most of the ads have minimum description and photos and asking maximum price.

# The Service section, i, e, offering/wanting jobs, tuition, IT related works etc. are not that good.

U will confront many people(when u submit an ad) contacting you to buy the item and bargaining with an absurd price. And if u want to buy something, many times u will find that people have asked for an astronomical price for their used products.I even saw some ads of 2nd hand mobiles with a price tag which is greater than the brand new variant!

I had good response for my ads. I sold one Fujifilm megazoom camera and one Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime in OLX in October, 2015. I took clear pictures of my products and posted at least 5-6 images(if not more) in the site. I also clearly mentioned the exact condition of the product, whether warranty left or not, what other accessories I will give along with the product etc. I also covered features of the products in brief.

All the bad experience u may have will come from the members; the site is not at all responsible for that. OLX is a good site for buying and selling 2nd hand products but u have to be cautious and must be patient coz everyone will try to maximise their profit/benefit regardless of he/she is a buyer or seller(including YOU of course!).
