A fine dining resturant dedicated to Bengali food - something a foodie like me can afford to overlook. After visiting it a few times I must say that the place lives up to the high standards it sets for itself.

It is located in the St. Marks Road, which falls in the central business district of the town. Connectivity with respect to any part of the town is good. Valet parking is available - also parking is not a pain as this road is not as crowded as the say - Church street or Brigade Road in the evening.

The resturant is located in the basement. Hence it might be tricky to locate it. It has glow signs nevertheless. Once you enter it is altogether a different world. The ambience is neat, dainty and formal, with a decor reminding you about the life in Kolkata. The place is comfortable and cosy. There is a opening dining area as well a spacious hall.

They have a buffet on every week day. I have never gone for it as it doesn't offer the illish, chingri stuffs. I have always gone for the alacarte. That doesn't mean the buffet is bad or something. It is as tasty, sumptious and has as much variety as one could expect.

There is one item - the vetki gandhoraj which is vetki fillet marinated with gandhoraj lime which I tasted for the first time in life. I enjoyed the novelty, and the vetki was awsome. I found it a little sour but my wife became a fan of it.

Another item is the mug-dal (the plain, not with fish head) which I liked a lot! Their trump card is their unique sorsey-ilish: a h-u-g-e ilish fillet marinated with musturd gravy. Guess what - it is completely devoid of the bones that ilish is notorious for! Any meal over there is not complete without this!

Their prawn items - the malaikari is also awsome. I liked some prawn based starter too - whose name I can't remember. Mutton kasha is delicious. I just loved it. It was lip smaking to say the least. I can't comment much on deserts for I have tried none. Their starters and main left me too full to do so.

Last but not least - the staff is courtious. Service is good. Basically there is always some guy looking on your back - the moment you reach out to help yourself they appear - magically! The manager himself takes round and enquires the guests about how they are doing. In one occassion he got us some luchi-s on-the-house as he felt it would go well with the mutton kasha we ordered! And it surely did!!

The resturant is damn expensive. I visit it occassionaly. It is a fine dining resturant which attempts to treat its guests in a royal manner - hence the killer price tag. I must admit that the quality of service, food, ambience and decor truely makes the place worth the bucks it charges. I am a satisfied customer and I recommend it for anyone who loves bongy-food and wants to have a great time!
