People of Pune(including me) are very fond of eating out. For years we kept going the typical udippi restaurants which have mushroomed throughout Pune. Each one has a very similar appearance and almost a common menu. The navratan kormas, dosas with sweet sambar, pav bhajis and pinaple salads. Udippi restaurant was considered as a safe venture with sure success. But these people forgot to account for a demographic change in Pune in recent times. Today, more and more people are traveling overseas, experiencing the foods habits of different countries, which they would cherish back home too. These “Udippi type” places do not have anything to offer for this set of people. Under these circumstances, places like “Off Beat “, were born.
Compared to other options for eating out, in Kothrud, Off beat is a vary unconventional place. It offers everything that we experience overseas, and cherish. The menu offers famous dishes from around the world apart from some very own but rare, Indian dishes.
Cleanliness and hygiene is the landmark feature of this place. Very few places in India would dare to keep an open kitchen. Seating arrangement is unique, but uncomfortable for longer durations. The place also offers a brunch in the morning, which is very uncommon in Pune. The prices are on a higher side as compared to other places in Pune. But when you see the cleanliness hygiene and, most important, the food quality, you might feel that everything was worth it.All in all, a fantastic place to spend a memorable evening.
Remember, if you are looking for a budget hangout, this is not the place you might like to go to.The prices are on thehigher side.
