Overall experience was pathetic. The initial quotation was given of 22k which I think was ok. But on day of packing they told me that some item were not listed in quotation and I have to pay extra. This is something I find very common trick used by movers and packers, first they give low quotation and charge extra on day of packing in name of extra items. Any how I agreed to pay 4k extra for those items.
The packing experience was not good. the carton boxes they were having were not good quality and looked liked used one. They were packing glass items in newspaper instead of in bubble. When I told them to do so, they reluctantly done it but still I found some glass item packed with newspaper after delivery. Lot of items which cannot be put in boxes like wardrobe parts where not packed properly. As I paid extra money I was told that there special truck will be used for my stuff and same truck will deliver my items in Nagpur. All stuff was loaded in trunk in proper manner in front of me. I was assured that my stuff will reach in safely in same truck. I paid them 85% of money.
Real surprise I got when my stuff reached to nagpur. When they removed cover from trunk, I found that all stuff which was put nicely in trunk in Pune, were laying here and there on top of someone else cargo. Later I come to know this truck was from transport company not of OMX relocation. They removed my stuff from truck and put the carton boxes of some company and on top of it they put my stuff without caring what that boxes contains. After seeing my stuff in such bad shape, I told them that I will not pay remaining 15%. After listening this, the OMX people left my place with my stuff. Later they start putting pressure on me to accept the goods otherwise they will put in warehouse and I have to pay extra to get it out. There were some bad languages were used specially by transport company owner. After some negotiation OMX ready on term that I will not pay them 15% money we agreed after delivery. Next day I stuff was delivered. As I was expecting damages were there. Two of my bookshelf back was broken. Carton boxes were torn off, tapes on boxes and other item were torn off.big items like wardrobe having external damages, half of the glass items were broken so on.Lot of damage only because my stuff were not properly loaded in truck.
One more thing that the guys who came with trunk for unloading my stuff, were laborer which you get on daily wages and were not staff of OMX or transport company. They do not have any experience on unpacking stuff. They just left my place once they put all boxes in my house. I had to open all boxes and now arranging my stuff.
Based on my experience.here are few suggestions
1> Always check the quotation if all your items are listed
2> Never give full amount to Relocation vendor.Negotiate for 50/50 or 60/40 or 70/30.pay part payment on day you handover you stuff to them and remaining amount on day you receive it.
3> Make sure your valuable are packed properly.if required on day of packing take help of friends who can keep an eye on these guy.You can't be everywhere while these guys packing your stuff.
4> Insurance these guys provide is not on paper and do not believe their claim on insurance.You can have insurance from well known insurance company.
5> carry important stuff like papers, jewellery etc with you and do not handover to relocation vendor in any case.
6> Do not blindly believe on rating given on sites(I made that mistake and paying the price)
I hope you guys get help from my suggestions and will have safe relocation.
