For our office and home we bought about 10 General split ACs during the last 2 years. Most of these are Inverter splits touted as the'best'. Of these 6 have failed:
A 2 ton compressor failed.
Another 2 ton - PCB failed.
A 1.5 ton - fan motor fialed.
Two 1 ton ACs - PCB failed.
1 ton AC - cooling coil gas leak.
The first 3 were in warranty and it took General almost 3 months to repair - despite my pleadings of manufacturing defects these were never replaced. By the time these were repaired the summer season is almost over.
The 3 x 1 ton units have not been repaired or replaced yet and my pleadings with General have yielded no response. This has been going on for 6 months - by which time General will conveniently claim these are out of warranty.
General is perhaps the worst Air Conditioner company in India and I hope others do not fall in their trap as I did.
Buying these ACs was the worst decision I could have made and its money completely down the drain. I am left with no option but to sue them in court for poor quality. Repeated phone calls to Saurav:+91 88008 98455 and Amit Ahuja(supposedly a General Manager!)+91 98100 22826 have yielded no results. Not even a courtesy of a return phone call.
