So, the Sun is finally shining on the Telugu Film industry.

The success of Anand first and Nuvvu Vastaanante Ney Vaddantaana (NVNV from now on) now , ultimately proves that it is not superstars or superheroes but an intelligent script and good acting that decide the fate of a film.

NVNV , marks the directorial debut of the dancing demigod Prabhu Deva. Interestingly, another Choreographer took the plunge a couple of months back with the movie MASS (should have been titled MESS), a movie that was so awful that even the Razzies would scorn to include it in its list. NVNV on the other hand is a decent flick whose appeal transcends all levels. Now onto the story.

Plot:

Trisha and Srihari (apologies, I forget their reel names) are siblings living in a small village. Orphaned at a young age, Srihari shoulders the responsibility of bringing up his sister . At a visit to her friends marriage Trisha meets Siddhardh, an NRI who happens to be the bride's cousin. After the usual teasing and chasing they fall in love with each other. Siddhardh's mother who resents the poor girl trying to ''seduce'' her rich son , taking advantage of the latter's absence insults Trisha and drives her and Srihari out.

An enraged Siddhardh sets out on a journey to her village vowing to win her love back.

Srihari, in order to test the mettle of this disgruntled lover, leases over a plot of land challenging him to reap as much a harvest as he would. How he meets this challenge forms the rest of the story.

Acting:

Surprisingly, every character, from the hero Siddhardh to the hell-bent-on-revenge disppointed lover, plays their part well. Siddhardh impresses with his zestful performance.

Music:

The music by, DeviSri Prasad is very good. A couple of numbers , the gentle and soothing melody ''Chandrullo undey '' and the rousing , full-blooded ''Ghall Ghall'' are exceptional. The rest are fillers.

Observations:

Well, this movie is not original. Most of the scenes are borrowed from Maine Pyar Kiya and an english movie Son-in-Law. But these have been seamlessly adapted to suit the Telugu audience. The heart and soul of this movie is its humor. There is no dull moment and the film picks up pace right from the first scene. For a debutante, Prabhu Deva shows surprising maturity. Either the sentimental scenes of a brother doting on his sister or the incident at the marriage is not allowed to go overboard. This is truly a great start.

Negative points:

There aren't many but I feel that the lengthy climax when Siddhardh kills the villian is needless and has been inserted just to enable to the story to be told in a flasback. Surely there can be better ideas.Otherwise I have no grouses.

Finally, with its stupendous success hopefully other filmmakers should realise that a good story, well told is all that matters.
