It was sort of sweet actually. I mean I know she's an actress and all that so she can deliver a line but she said she might be as famous as can be but also she was just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to love her - I've made the wrong decision, haven't I?

What makes a movie tick with a theme as old as the Shakespeare era? Rich girl and not-so-rich guy, or vice versa falling in love and there are problems that separate them. Well, here it isn’t anyone that separated them. It was a self made obstacle that not just tried to keep them apart, but also tried to make an aversion.

Anna Scott (Julia Robert) is Hollywood's most worshipped demi goddess. While strolling by a book shop in Notting hill, she somehow catches fancy with Will Thacker (Hugh Grant). Cupid strikes while the coffee or whatever it is spilt on Anna Scott., Anna stays back at Will's house for a weekend. The nosy press discovers this and thus creates a barrier between the two. Well, the story line like this the movie should’ve got over in less than an hour. but there are some situations that are built around the nurturing as well as fading romance between Anna and Will, that makes a foundation of an outdated theme work its way into viewers applaud. The brilliance in which was perfectly conveyed the formation of the mental and social block that may keep these two love birds away from each other.

Love, as they say, is blind. To this effect, though there is some sort of an attraction between the two, Anna and Will, fail to see this way, and go in a way the entire society has dictated upon them. There are some mushy scenes that touch you in a way that you would really be looking up the actresses databases to see whom you can fall in love. But then, real life isn’t much the way movies are. So what exactly happens at the end? Its quiet expected and I haven’t told you.

The music score from Ronan Keating ''when you say nothing at all'' is not only appropriate for the movie, but then, I suppose it was tailor made for this. The theme was just right and the cast and their performance were remarkable. Hugh Grant looks impressive with his Brit accent and dis-oriented portrayal of Will Tacker. Julia Roberts was quiet different, and quiet a contrast to her roles in Pretty woman or Erin Brockovich. The supporting casts too have made quiet a remarkable contribution to the plot.

Quotes

# 1

William: I live in Notting Hill; you live in Beverly Hills. Everyone in the world knows who you are; my mother has trouble remembering my name.

# 2

Anna Scott: I've been on a diet everyday since I was nineteen, which basically means I've been hungry for a decade

# 3

Anna Scott: And one day, not long from now, my looks will go. They will discover I can't act, and I will become some sad middle-aged woman who looks a bit like someone who was famous for a while.

# 4

Bella: Writing an article on how London hotels treat people in wheelchairs.

# 5

Anna Scott: After all...I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.

And for Desserts

If you must watch this, watch with your family, friends or that special someone. Well, don’t care for the story line or the theme, just watch this, involve yourself throughout the length of the flick, make sure you enjoy it, and once the movie is over, forget about it, unless you want to review this- well write your review and then forget it. Don’t miss the humor hidden in the British accent. End of the day, you don’t need a movie to judge where you stand in your love life if any. So the tale of love between the ever popular Anna Scott and Will Tacker is just another story if you ask me. But then, I enjoyed watching it for the reasons that it fills my list.

Comments most welcome.
