In case you want to read the book, this might not be a relevant review, cos I haven't read the book. But I have seen the movie.
The Plot
Betty Mahmoody (Sally Field) is an American (white) woman. She is married to an Iranian-born doctor, Dr Sayyed Bozorg Mahmoody. Dr Mahmoody wishes to travel on vacation to his homeland Iran. Once there, Betty is horrified to learn her husband intends to live there and refuses to allow her or their daughter to leave. She then begins a desperate and dangerous plan to escape the country with her daughter.
The movie is based on a true story.
