Lets be realistic. Since ages .probably even before the Italians started layering the outside of their breads with "stuff"(and called it arty!come'on!), the Indians were layering their breads, INSIDE! Parathas. For those who would like us to believe that they do not enjoy the sinfully rich experience my grandma called porothaash! they are liars. Now lets celebrate the rise of the parathewalah!, for ages he has dominated the galis of old Delhi and hundreds of other cities, so much so that some rich fat lalaji who may have been bribed with some thick paneer and aloo fillers with some 'taaza' makhan ages ago even dedicated a street to the ubiquitous parathewalah! no mean trick! you think its easy to get a street named after you? Die man die! many did and got there streets but the parathewalah did it with pure ghee!
Not Just Parathas, is a new entrant to the kingdom long ruined by trans fat and anorexic women! So its fat! bid deal, the fun was to be able to eat it and burn it off! not just stop! if so all you diet freaky crazy bony flakes of humanity I invite you to stop having sex. You will get pregnant!
3 outlets and a multitude of followers later it still has to see the mainstream dazzle that a standalone chain gets ever so often! for goods sake pizzas you can have but not parathas!?
NJP is located at 3 locations one described by ami_paromita and very well too. Me had the privilege to visit the newer outlet at V3S mall off laxmi nagar in east Delhi. Well located and definitely in a locality with more paratha lovers than pizza schmmoozers I was hoping to find the place packed. Alas! they weren't! which in a way is good as you can eat in peace. So as the wife busied herself with the KMP(kid management program) I was left to navigate through the rather large menu all alone. Its was quite a large menu! for gods sake they have bloody dozens of parathas. for the vegetarians there were around 20 kinds of stuffing!(I saw a few vegans celebrating before I entered, now I know why!) and almost the double of that for the carnivours! and there were meetha parathas, paan parathas! an so on so forth. The also do keep a large selection of regular dishes and gravies and yes you will get tawa chicken there too. So relax!.
The food was good, though you may want to specify that you want your tikkas well cooked. The marinates are well done and subtle, yet its easy to be misled by the menu, where some items written about beautifully weren't quite the thing. Try the murgh lahori tawa, its nice and the naans and lacchaa parathas are good. The place is done over in 3 levels, and in each part they have recreated parts of India which would bring my grandma on her "pheet! There are nice touches of a old haveli, chandni chowk streets(funny they always do that when they want to depict old?!) and of course some nice rugged benches almost out of city hall! the waiters dressed as I guess old fashioned chaiwallhas or may postmen were okay, and sometimes attentive, one even participated in the KMP, and was graduated with a RS 20 bill promptly by me! So much so, its a nice place, good value for money, quantity is good so dont order too many things, and yes Rs 500 is kings meal so have fun!
