Norton 2000 is the best Anti-virus available. I am using it for the past year..and am extremely satisfied with it. Now they say it has become even better with Norton AV 2001.
Notron AV 2000 could detect and clean more than 18000 viruses when it was first sold. Progressively during the year with a few updates (all Free)almost every fortnight, they must have reached far more. This was the feature I really appreciate from Norton. When I installed it, I was given the option to be remided of ''Live Updates'' every week, but since the option was open to my choice I set it to 15 days. Every fifteen days I logged in for updates, and almost every time found a few. The updates downloaded fast and automatically installed themselves.
The only disadvantage with it is...It makes the system very slow. Everytime you want to install a new software..it scans every file ..thus taking almost double the normal time to complete installation. Due to the same reason, even the mails download very slowly. Also any other software you want to download from the net, takes a lot of time. However, if you are sure of the authencity and safety of a software that you want to install or download..you have the option of temporarily ''disabling'' Norton AV, once ''disabled'', the installation is carried out at normal speed..and then, after installation is complete you can enable Norton again..this disable/enable can be done very easily.
For a while Dr. Solomon's WinGuard did pose some competition, but it was soon overtaken by Norton..In my opinion Norton is, till date, the most comprehensive and best Anti-Virus available.
