Nokia X2 Good Music Phone. Review on Nokia X2

The issue of restart has been identified by Nokia.The restarts are due to the incompatibility of nokia with the 2gb sandisk card that was given with the box.

If you use any other brand of memory card the mobile will work like a charm.Just remove the 2gb sandisk and get a transcend , kingston etc.Or you can take it to nokia care and ask them to exchange the memory card .

For it to work with sandisk nokia may send a fix soon.but I gues that will take a long time so get some other brand memory card and enjoy the ultimate music capabilities of X2.

The camera is bad though.In future software versions may be nokia will improve camera.

If you are buying the mobile for pure music capabilities get it.

After changing the memory card I dint get a single restart.

Older Review with 2Gb Sandisk memory Card

This review is based in the Software version 4.80* (The latest version currently available and it has many show stopper bugs packed into it u will become fed up of counting the number of times this mobile restarted in just a few days)

The pros in this mobile

Awesome range of features 5 meg camera, music series, 16 GB expandable, Torch light, Dual Stereo speakers etc.All of it for around 6K INR (There is a good reason for low pricing )

Excellent usability features in the mobile like a timed profiles, timed bluetooth, improved messaging.

The Cons:

1)If you think it has a 5 meg camera think again. When you start using the video feature you will get a hang and restart.

2)This is a music series mobile. So load up that 2Gb memory card with about 300 songs disconnect from the pc. Once disconnected from pc just access open the storage card folder from gallery.You will get another restart.If you are thinking of getting a 16 Gb memory card think again since this mobile is struggling to handle a 2 GB memory card.

3) Fine you will forgive nokia for this after all just two hangs/restarts so far.Now just play any song in your memory card using the ovi player from menu.Then go to the all songs list while the song is playing and do scroll using the central up down keys(Not the dedicated music keys) for some time you will get a hang and restart.

4)Bit slow in opening messages in inbox etc

If you purchased this mobile for listening to songs you should not scroll very fast else you will loose your mood for listening to songs.

If you purchase it for taking videos then you will get so many hangs and restarts.

If you exclude the above few issues it is an excellent phone in terms of usability because I know if you can wait for nokia to fix these issues you can jolly well get one and show off but just ensure that you restrict your friends from scrolling to choose their favorite music tracks while songs are being played and don't let them shoot any videos. With a little modification in human behavior this phone will work.

Until then just showoff those torchlight capabilities and dual stereo speakers(But don't scroll to fish for your music tracks while music is being played)

Other nokia x2 owners please share your bug list  so I can modify my behavior accordingly.

Also another big plus if you  get this phone is that your social life would have gotten a big boost.There is a 99% chance that your second call using this mobile will be to a nokia technical support and and many calls there after. Then you would have made many good friends with the nokia care guys within the first week of purchase as proud X2 owners.I am sure they will be eagerly awaiting your visits to them by now.You can use the new home screen face book widget to add these new found friends to you face book using X2.Now that's why I told you how  intuitive its usability is.

Nokia has ensured that except the USPs all other features work flawlessly which is the paradox.I dont know when the next software version will be released till then my date with the nokia care representatives will continue.

For those of you who had purchased this already please read further down.

However there is a solution to any problem

Don't try changing memory cards they wont help every memory card will cause hang/restart.

Just remove the memory card and start using the phone with the internal memory only till the next software version is released.

Without the memory card the phone will never have the hang/restart . Just try this out and save yourself the heartache.Till then listen to the FM and click very few snaps ;) .

I know you badly want to use the memory card .But you got to understant they are not made for each other.So I suggest you separate them and enjoy what is left till Nokia solves this .At present Nokia is in complete denial of this.Once they come out of denial and fix it you can put them back together.
