To be honest, I have a craze on gadget especially when it is about mobile phone and music system. I have experimenting mobile phones from Motorola>Sony Ericsson>BenQ>Sony Ericsson>Nokia>Nokia>Nokia. It is not that I can't stay on one, but it is for the craze I am facing which ended to my new Nokia N8 till date. You may ask, when there is a mad rush for Android, why I opted for another Symbian OS? The only reason is, I believe, Nokia smartphones run on Symbian OS coupled with smartphones features have no alternative till date. Before purchase of my Nokia N8, I was using Nokia C6-01 which holds most of the fabulous features of N8, but due to the smaller screen size I passed it over to my wife who manages it well. But to get another smartphone for me was not an easy task, every day I searched for a good Android phone that can support all the features I was having with Nokia C6-01; I went through HTC, Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and even Dell . I compared specifications and ultimately inferred, none other than Nokia can give you all the pleasurable features in a phone. In other brands, either you have a brilliant display with poor battery life, or missing of Adobe Flash, or shortage of internal memory, or lower 3G speed, or not the latest Bluetooth connectivity etc etc. No satisfaction at all. If you see minutely, none other than Nokia gives you so acute technical specifications on net. I had a liking for turning over to Android, but I had no choice in front of me except to go with HTC(which has hardly any service centre in Kolkata) or Samsung Galaxy SII(beyond my budget). I made up my mind and went for Nokia N8 straightway. I got the EMI facility from Nokia.

As a C6-01 user, the features in Nokia N8 are no new to me except its display and resolution and the audio/video system. The Dolby Digital Sound is MAGNIFICENT in a word, just a feel that you are in Inox. Audio quality is too good. Web browsing is nice as usual and great with a 3G connection. Youtube feature runs great too. The excellent video quality support gives you a different feel every time. I had been a Sony audio quality fan, but Nokia N8 excels in certain fields. In a dim-lit drawing room, a quality video with Dolby audio will give you a different kind of feel.

The supplied widgets are very useful. Battery life is nice comparatively. It is a fact that in a smartphone of 24-hour use, one cannot claim a 3/4 days battery backup, this is unjust. Unlike C6-01, N8 misses the torch application.

Apart from C6-01, the features I especially like in N8 -

> SIM insertion is easy without opening the back cover.

> As most of the smartphones, if the phone freezes/hangs the dedicated Switch ON/OFF button helps to restart the phone. One has to hold it for at least 8 seconds. Earlier, in C6-01, the battery had to be detached.

> Great audio/video quality. Just fabulous!

> Great camera features with face detection and auto focus. No need to buy any compact digital camera if you have N8.

> Lots of Ovi apps give it a better feel every time.

> Above all, its smart look. Manly in all the way.:)

Cons:

As I said, faster processor speed is required. Nothing more is evident at this moment.

Suggestion to Nokia:

>Some firmware update is excepted very soon to give Symbian^3 a better performance. Hope it make the phone sweeter.

> Inbuilt weather widget for desktop should be introduced just like HTC/Samsung.

> More Home Screen options(at least 5) should be introduced. Though N-Desk is a great feature for the purpose, but with many limitations.

> For such high end smartphones, a dedicated dock station should be supplied.

I am using it every moment . and experiencing it too. Hope the N8 users have the similar experience.

This is an ultimate phone to buy.
