Welcome to the exiting journey of N73 M . I have been using this cell phone since last four months and it has been a wonderful experience . To begin with, I was not sure if Iam to classify this device as a cell phone or a music player or a camera. N 73 M is a beautiful integration of all three features . Let us take a closer look at this awesome device.
Nokia N 73 M looks sleek, compact, light weight and is indeed a black beauty. It has a large high definition display. The screen is bright and well illuminated. The cell phone can be placed on “ active stand by ” mode in which it offers about Six customizable shortcuts for various applications on the display screen. The device can be used on 2 G and 3 G networks. The phone is based on the S 60 3rd Edition platform developed by Nokia. It is powered by BP – 6M battery with a talk time of 245 minutes and stand by time of about 350 hours.
The phone is equipped with flawless Blue tooth and infrared applications to transfer and synchronize data between two compatible devices. It has a 2 GB mini SD card which facilitates to increase the available memory for data, music and software applications. The cell has a light sensor to brighten or darken the display. In the sleep mode the device has a unique blue LED which blinks to indicate that the device is powered on. The blue LED looks nice and helps one to find the device in the dark. The call clarity is excellent with good reception.
The device has unique 3 D tones which enable three – dimensional sound effects for certain ringing tones. You can modify the 3 – D settings to your choice with settings like sound trajectory, sound reverberation and Doppler effect. The phone offers basic time management functions like Clock, World clock, Calculator, Converter, Calendar, Memo to write a general entry, scheduling of appointments and Anniversary reminders. It is also equipped with host of standard features like Contacts, Voice dialing, Video call, Communication log, SMS, MMS, FM radio and to add a real player.
It has a setting wizard which helps you to auto configure your GPRS, MMS, Data access & E – mail settings. The cell phone has quick office application which enables one to view Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. It also has an adobe reader which enables you to read PDF documents. Be in touch with your PC through Nokia PC suite applications. The F Secure mobile security which provides real time, on – device protection against harmful content and it scans all the files for Virus protection.
N 73 M comes with host of user friendly features which enable one to browse the internet with ease. There is a web browser called ’Web’ available under the ’Applications’ folder. This browser displays full websites .The handy minimap feature allows you to navigate with ease, showing you where you are on any webpage while scrolling. In addition, there is one more browser called ’services’ which is specifically designed for viewing those pages which are specially maintained for mobile devices by respective service providers.
N 73 M has two cameras a high resolution camera on the back side of the device and a lower resolution camera on the front. The front camera can be used for Video calling. The high resolution digital camera at the back has awesome imaging capabilities. The camera lens is protected by a cover which slides out smoothly and automatically puts the phone is a camera mode. The camera is 3.2 mega pixel with advanced Carl Zeiss optics. It offers a 20 X digital zoom in still imaging mode. The camera has some advanced functions like LED flash, moderate white balance, adjust exposure compensation, colour tone, Red eye reduction, and select light sensitivity. All these functions assists you to reproduce colours and lightning more accurately and add effects to your pictures or videos. The picture clarity is excellent. It also has various scene modes - auto, user defined, close-up, portrait, landscape, sports, night and night portrait. One can also record videos and the maximum length of a video is 60 minutes subject to memory being available. The phone is loaded with some awesome applications which enable us to edit Images and Videos. It also has a provision for albums and a slide show option.
The cell phone has a music player and has a dedicated music access key. Music player supports all files with extensions like AAC, AAC+, e AAC+, MP3, WMA, WAV . MPEG, 3GP etc. The phone has two integrated speakers which provide a stereo sound effect. You have the options create your playlists, repeat and shuffle songs . It has a 5 – band graphic equalizer which enables one to modify sound The sound clarity is excellent and you can carry your entire music library with you on the go.
On the flip side the phone tends to hang though this a rare phenomenon. In most of the cases hanging tends to happen if many applications are opened at a given moment without closing previous ones. Secondly the keys are slightly small and it does take one some time for getting used to them . Thirdly Nokia has surprisingly missed out the basic key pad auto lock feature. One has to go in for a cell phone auto lock through security options to avoid redialing of Keys.
The N 73 M is a powerful intelligent multimedia device. It is a master piece. The imaging power of its digital camera and its high quality music features, offers one a very special experience!
