With all the crazy verities of phones that are available today I encountered the cool Nokia N72 mobile!
Let me Outline the goods and bad of this mobile. I bought the Nokia N72 at Nokia Priority Store
What was in the box?: The box itself was well packed ...it contained the Nokia N72 phone, a mannual, Nokia PC SUITE CD, Hands free(earphone) USB cable....A charger....and 256 mb memorycard
And there is a specific reason for calling this little guy a pretender, , read the review to findout why?

Pretend No.1 As a.Phone: the main purpose of the mobile... the voice clarity compared to my older mobile, , , , is good indeed ...guess it has a better SRC to normalize the incoming audio and out going audio...And also one can also control the volume of the recieving audio signal while talking(very handy if your boss is shouting and don't want to feel the heat of his words!)...or can turn on the loudspk ( to experience the bliss of the words of loved ones) to hear it out loud !
the best part is you can also record your conversation (recall the moment in its original format) , , ,
and the buttons are very convinient do push!..
Pretend No.2 As a photographer?!: Lights camera Action! well that might be a little Exaggeration as this mobile even though supports 2.0 mega pixel(Aproximately 640/480 resolution)the captured picture won't be very clear...if you have a digital camera you'll be able to feel that.....but still its a good one..also one can record the video too ! the video will be encoded in Mp4 format(Not Mpeg 4)
Pretend no. 3 As a Music band, and a portable TV?: My personal favourate feature .... one can launch to the music player just by a push of a button!(located in lower right hand side) and the mobile is ready to rock, or pop, blued, Hip hop or get classical or blah blah blah... if you're a music lover, you'll start to love this phone.! (though there's another set available with IPOD like design I think N70 ) but this mobile is still good...supports All popular music formats like Mp3(HOT!) WMA, WAV Aiff...and new format like AAC... and I was able to get the OGG format to be supported by adding the ogg software player(which is free!)...but it does'nt support lossless compression format like WMA lossless...
So instead of sitting idle while you're waiting for a train bus or an Aeroplane you can say Let the music play..
the audio quality is Good not the best though...... (you can't Expect Creative X-fi Audio quality from any phone, , because its only pretending to be a music player!!)
Portable TV? well not really... you can't watch your typical TV shows while on camp or on a vacation, , , , .but you can only watch the video in the big 128*128 display screen that are pre recorded and are put in the memory card.. but it beats better than watching nothing!...
phone comes with a Realone player software that does'nt support much of the video formats to be played...if you want Mpeg 4 video formats, , like (Divx, XVID ) you'll have to go for some other video player like smar movie player...the default one is designed for watching the videos that are recorded using the camera (Mpeg4) and RM(Real media) fromats ...but it does'nt support RMVB(Real media Variable Bitrate) format..
Pretend No.4 As a Good old radio With style: first the phone must be jacked with the Hands free (earphone) which nokia claims, , that acts as an Antenna....but its also possible to hear it through the Loudspk but the hands free must be connected...
The phone lets you hear the radio in style! i, e you can see what you're hearing! which means you can see what music is currently being played the artists, , the poster etc .....
the phone has as Application called Visual radio ......the actual "visual radio as of now is only with Mirchi radio station, , that too only in Delhi and Mumbai with airtel service, not sure of other services.... ........well okay will tune to the visual radio when I visit delhi or mumbai..........but untill then lets explore the original thing!
the radio stations are accessed through the Sevice provider, i, e in my case Airtel.......and browse the state you're currently in, and the nearest location... and it gives you the lists of radio stations available!! and automatically tune to the radio station we've selected without having to specify the frequency! I found that very useful...as I earlier said, it connects through your mobile service provider in my case, it connects through Airtel Live.
The reciption quality is also excellent
Pretend No.5 Text Applications: This feature is availble in almost all the phones... now a days almost all phones come with a text editor to type smss..... but the text editor in N72 is a bit sophisticated than what's available in an ordinary phone.....the key feature here is, this phone comes with MSword(editor)
Adobe PDF reader..which I found extremely handy...which means you load up a novel or a comic (in PDF format) and read it while you trvel even during the night....
Other Goodies: well other than these hot features it has a whole other bunch of features like,
Ring tones:the phone comes with a set of preloaded ring tones which are good, , but also one can set The mp3 files or wma files or midi files to be the ring tone...
and also the phone has a feature called Video tone that plays the a User selected Video instead of only the sound....and as always its also possible to select the Message tones ranging from midi or regular mp3's
A Virus Among the Applications!: Oops I meant to say an Antivirus among the applications....
oh! great the bad guys have started making viruses even for the mobiles now a days? just great.
but as always, good guys make antivirus to Protect!
The Antivirus Application is the good old Symantec Nortan Antivirus..which does the usual stuff like scan for viruses.. etc...
Browser: the mobile comes with a web browser Opera(which I prefer) ...and I haven't got the chance to explore it yet ....as I don't have the mobile Internet connection (has to be obtained from the Mobile service provider)
One of the most key features I found useful as the ablity of being able to connect to the PC via a USB cable(provided), or Bluetooth or infrared medias.
Nokia PC Suite: A very handy software for your PC to help you manage your mobile , , , such as to install new apps to the phone, , , to import or export music files, or video files, typed document , phone contacts etc t..it has a CD ripper(to convert Audio cds to AAC, MP3 , WMA)
Bottom line: Nokia N72 mobile is a good phone indeed .. it is a little overpriced, you can wait for the price to go down, or if you can afford it now, i suggest you go for this one..
