First of all let me bust the myth – This is NOT the most innovative smartphone in the world which is a bizarre marketing ploy by the Nokia marketing team, though it can be called the best Windows phone yet. Moreover it looks like Nokia is on a revival path after it had slipped in the last 2 years. I loved the lumia 920 especially for its pureview camera and I was looking forward to something better. I was disappointed to an extent. The phone is thinner, lighter and looks classier but there are many areas where it lacks and it cannot match up to the likes of the Nexus 4 and the Iphone 5 . For now let me dissect this device for you!

Build Quality - The most brilliant aspect of this device is its build quality. At 8.5 mm it is a lot thinner than its predecessor and it weighs around 139 gms which is far less from the 180 gms of the 920. The Phone is compact and feels very good in the hand. The aluminum frame that covers the device makes it premium and it doubles up as the antenna, but there is still a budge due to the camera which looks bigger now. Overall shunning the polycarbonate for the aluminum was a great move and the build captures the essence of this solid device.

Display - The device has a 4.6 inch, 1280 x 780 AMOLED display with the nokia’s Clearblack technology, the puremotion HD display of the 920 was replaced with a better one. The display has a pixel density of 332 ppi, not too much according to today’s standards. Like its predecessor, the device is stunning but it cannot standout in the market due to the lack of the 1080p. The Display is protected by Gorilla glass 2 which gives it a curved finish thus making it look thinner.

Camera - The Lumia 920 has the best smartphone camera, period. Nokia continues to play to its greatest strength with the Lumia's 8.7MP camera (a 1.2MP wide angle lens is tucked around the front face for video chats and selfies).

It's bolstered by Nokia's new Smart Camera app – initially a Lumia 925 exclusive, it'll roll out to other Lumia handsets as part of the Nokia Lumia Amber firmware upgrade this summer. With a simplistic menu and an array of special effects under its belt including the Action Shot Mode, which auto-creates a multi-exposure action shot from a burst of pictures.

Battery Life - The device has a 2000 mah battery, again not huge by any standard’s but the windows ecosystem is battery efficient than the android and therefore this is no concern. The device would comfortably last an entire day’s usage.

Performance - The device houses a 1.5 ghz Dual core Snapdragon processor which is a disappointment as I expected at least a quad core processor which has become a norm in flagships these days. Apart from that it also features 1 GB of RAM thus lagging behind the Android flagships by a huge margin. It also has an adreno 225 gpu.

Memory - The device has 16 GB of internal memory which is not expandable which again is a disappointment. No micro sd card support means you are stuck with the available 12 GB of space.

Price and Availability - The device will be available by the end of June and most probably at a price range of Rs 28 – 32 k.

Verdict - The device has received a refreshing change in looks but a performance it is just a minor upgrade. If Nokia thinks it can top the sales with this device – they are drunk !! But one thing is sure, I haven’t seen a better windows device yet.

Thanks and Regards,

SlightlyDrunk
