I had been using android phones for some time. 6 months back had gifted my wife Nokia Lumia 510 which runs on windows 7.8. I had been using a HTC One X. When I thought of having a second phone wanted to try the windows 8 based phones offered by Nokia and bought myself a Lumia 720. I loved it for its uni body design, gorilla glass, bright young colors ( I took the red one ), Nice IPS LCD display (Amazing blacks for an LCD screen). Design wise its beautiful and any one would fall for it.
Pros:
Nokia's Here Drive - Its free and one can download entire India maps thorugh wifi. Its a one time job and can be used for navigation free of cost without enabling 3G or 2G. Voice navigation is also available and is very precise.
Nokia offers free music subscription and one can search and download thousands of their favorite music (mp3) from store.
Battery backup is good. for my usage it comes for more than 2 days with 3G enabled. My One X used to run for less than a day.
4.3 inch display although is less in pixel density is good in terms of contrast ratio and brightness. Blacks are Nicer when compared to other LCDs.
Camera is good for low light photography
Supports ext Micro SD card, NFC etc.
Cons:
Signal Reception is poor compared to most other phones. With case of Lumia 520 which my friend is using its very bad.
Hangs and reboots randomly at-least once a day. I dont play much games or similar heavy weight applications. But still it reboots automatically. With Windows 7.8 phones I have never faced this issue.
Audio quality (Music) is very normal although it has sound equalizer and Dolby. The headphones which come with the phone are of very cheap quality. I had Sony in-ear headphones which I am using to listen to music. Still the output is average.
Windows 8 OS although comes with some improvements in UI etc. I feel Microsoft has to work hard to solve these reboot issues.
Zune does not work with this phone. For PC Sync one should have Windows 8 based desktop installed with Windows Phone app. Otherwise one with Windows 7 desktop can connect with this phone on mass storage mode and still access its files.
