This phone is just fantastic for a person like me. I have used Windows Mobile(i-mate JAM) and I love this phone.

I was crazy about stylus earlier. I used to think that with stylus I can type faster and the ease of use will be good. but after trying out i-mate, I realized that when it comes to machine understanding my writing style(which is not so good) it is difficult. So stylus was no more a charm.

I am a technology freak. I had GPRS . I have WiFI at home. I have bluetooth headset which I feel is must if you want to pick up phone while drving.

This phone is just rightfor such stuff.

The good things in the phone:

  1. The phone has both key interfaces . pure phone and qwerty keyboard. The pure phone thing is good if you have only one hand free. Qwerty is good to check/write emails/browse stuff.

  2. the wide screen under flap matches 800 horizontal resolution which I feel is the best thing in any phone because I can see the site as-is. Its tedious to browse such sites with JAM i-mate like phones. The scrolling that is required is pathetic.

  3. The best thing I liked was if I am in a meeting and I get a call, I press three clicks .(a) silent(b) click send message(c) pre-typed sorry msg comes so press'send'! Simple I have told my wife that I am in a meeting and can't pick up call with-out she getting angry on why I am not picking up any call.

  4. If you realize with any Nokia device . wherever possible they make user click on same button so that the user doesn't have to do much in typical flow . e.g. take above case where I don't even click different buttons . I am over with clicking on send within 500ms! take also case of deleting a message . I click'C' if at all it asks message'C' again!

  5. It has GPS navigation . so you know where you are. There are some glitches here for India region which I would tell below. But overall, I have used this phone in Mumbai(where you keep being lost even if you ask people about directions) to reach a place on my own.(Well, I still had to ask people but I was sure I am not circuling and going to very different place!).

  6. I use Fring to remain online on GTalk and Skype so that my sisters and brothers can call me without me to keep my laptop on.

  7. I don't need to use laptop anymore if I want to check emails and browse. I open laptop over weekend only if I want to play games or do some programming or such stuff!

  8. My phone doesn't "hang" much like i-mate if I installed and kept some applications running. Also if the phone feels I am using too much memory then it closes the app which I think is good . because finally its a phone and I want phone part to work regardless of whether an app works!

  9. The 3.2MP camera with flash is replacement for camera!"trust me. I have Cannon A70 which I don't use much now. Its much much better than i-mate. The best use of this camera is . if I draw something on whiteboard in office, I just click a snap and send it to all over company WiFi!

9.a. I use the phone as web-cam using a paid software called Mobilia WebCamera. It works like a charm . you just need to take care that there is a light on your face since the phone's flash is relatively weak.

  1. It has class . when I keep it in my hand I feel power.

  2. Well, not a big thing for me  but for all the contacts who have photos linked . they get synced to MS Outlook 2007 automatically!

The things which I would like more:

  1. I wish Nokia had given latest maps for India region. The maps can tell you overall where you are(you at least know you are in Andheri when you are there!) but if it could tell exact road and directions in Mumbai then I would appreciate it. Same for Goa. I believe all foreigners come to Goa so wonder why Nokia doesn't give detailed and latest map of Goa in its Nokia Maps software.

  2. The stand-by screen has task plugin . I wish it showed only if there are any tasks due. I am not much interested if I have 50 tasks . I just want to know that I have 2 tasks pending today.

  3. The tasks are not recurring which is bad.

  4. PC sync can improve to(a) handle more patterns like MS Outlook(b)   it should have mapping of categories in MS Outlook to contact groups like i-mate.(c) should have category for appointments.

  5. If I mark a task complete in phone. the synced version in MS Outlook doesn't complete:-( Actually it should.

  6. Quickoffice not that feature rich . also it strips some formatting done on PC which is bad. I think if it doesn't have features at least it should retain the formatting in original version and let us modify minimal stuff in it.

  7. Manish
