Nokia E 71, my 3rd Nokia E 71. Its more useful when used from a business perspective but even otherwise. I have this phone since the past 1 year and it's surpassed every other phone that I ever had. I usually don't use internet on the phone much but I tried it for a couple of months from my Vodafone account and that got me into writing this review.
The previous 2 handsets have been cordially taken away by my mom and dad. When dad took away the 2nd phone from me I decided that I would buy something different cos I had already used the same phone for over 6 months. I thought of the 5800 amongst all the other phones but got cranky and ended up buying E71 for the 3rd consecutive time. now I feel that the reason why I got cranky of going and looking for other phones was. because somewhere down the line(after using E71) I knew that I would not find a better phone.
This phone has everything. I could download chat softwares, watch videos on youtube, facebook on click, email configurations, music store, plus entertainment softwares that can be downloaded for free from Ovi store.
Even if u r not using the internet and just use the phone for calls and msgs, it is still better then most other phones.
1st look. Pl don't tell me that the phone does not looking appealing and sexy. Its like a PDA or a Blackberry. the phone definitely makes a statement. User Friendly. Symbian tech speaks for itself. easy to use. so many applicatioins that can be accessed from the active screen itself. the phone has Listening mode which reads ur notes and msgs. the phone allows one to type word docs, excel sheets and powerpoint presentations. also has adobe reader. QWERTY keyboard makes it easy to type fast. the only glitch here would probably the small sized keys which makes typing a pain initially. once u get the hand of it. its fast enuf.
Connectivity is awesome. it comes with bluetooth, infrared, P2T and Wifi.
The camera of the phone is one place where it loses its charm. u cannot compare the 3.2 resolution of this phone with any Sony Ericsson phone BUT, then SE cannot be compared to the E71.
The phone also has an amazing battery life. I used to be online from the phone all the time and still the battery gave me an entire 24 hours support. Now that I am not using the phone for internet, the battery life is minimum 2 days. no lies (just to let u know my usage. my phone bills usually go above the 1500 mark on a plan where I already have 800 mins free).
Overall, the phone is a winner and is still very much in demand. Just to figure it out, we usually assume the price of a mobile phone to drop down considerably over a period of 6 mnths. E71, when I bought the first piece, costed me a good 21k (1.5 - 2 yrs back). I bought my 3rd e71 just 2 months back for 17700. over a span of a couple of yrs the phone price went down by just 4k . how often do u see that happening. maybe I m wrong with the prices but these are the prices that I have paid for the phone.
my vote is for e71.
